Questions to CLS 55 owners
How do you like the car so far? I am seriously thinking of ordering one, just want to hear some pros and cons. Would you recommend it in terms of handling, drive comfort?

CLS55 AMG
Build Quality - Excellent
Power - Excellent (but limited until 1000 miles - only 250 miles so far)
Handling - Disappointed (compared to my previous M5)
Styling - Excellent
Comfort - Excellent
Gas Mileage - Is this really important?
Cheers.

2006 CLS 55 AMG
I would tend to agree with Gleen55 ~
Build Quality - Excellent
Power - Unreal Nothing compares to 500 blown horses under the right foot
Handling - turns on a dime and very solid and sure footed on the twisties
Styling - Stops traffic and causes many to put a thumb up
Comfort - wide, solid and roomy
Features - Keyless go is a must - Great Technology
Exhaust note - Very deep and throaty on even mild acceleration
Gas Mileage - 20's
Sound system - Is the biggest complaint cannot seem to get the logic system to sound right.
Value - Priceless In my opinion a clear value at the msrp point

e55211 traded in for CLS55
Hey Harris,
After driving the first 500+ miles (in one week), I must say that I have no regrets trading my "old" 211 E55. There's more rumble on the exhaust, suspension feels much better and I am more comfortable with the brakes of the cls. Looks like MB have made these adjustments in response to the complaints received by 211 E55 owners?
Other than the fact that I need to remind myself to use another car if I have 4 passengers, I totally like the cls and very happy with it.
But I will be happier as soon as you deliver my new wheels (earlier?)!

2012 Diavel
I agree with most of the above. Power seems stronger than my 2004 E55 and handling is definitely quicker and more percise. The change in brakes, which would probably suite the average buyer better, is taking some time to get used to. I was liking the urgency of the E55 brakes. Also I notice that the tranny does not downshift as quick as the E55 which in turn requires more brakes. Maybe that's why it feels faster.

if you only can afford it and like the styling and quality is as good as should be, then i don't know why wait.

Something on 4 wheels..
IMO, it's the best looking car on the market right know, exterior AND interior.
The performance package and (hopefully) designo makes the best even better

04 E 500 4matic wagon; CLS 63 AMG
I have had my car for about four weeks, and the last two weeks it has been in for a substantially upgraded speaker and amplifier system, K40 radar system, blue tooth device for an after market phone and darkening of the red rear lenses. During the times that I have actually driven it, I find it is much more nimble that the '03 CL 55 that I traded in. The brakes are also more responsive in feel that my CLS 55 or my E 500 AWD Wagon. It is a great drivers car.
CLS 55 AMG, Black Opal; Charcoal Leather with High Gloss Laurel wood trim: all options except distronic and Mercedes phone system: 20" Kleemann Wheels: Kleemann LDS & Stage 1 upgrade; matching leather and wood steering wheel with paddles; upgraded speaker and amplifier system; K40 radar and laser detector darkened read rear lenses.

I drove the CLS55 back to back with an E55 at the AMG graduate program at Calif Speedway. I was not sure I was going to take the CLS when it came in, but that comparison sold me, as I had an 04 E55. The CLS55 handles better and the steering in much more direct than the E55.
It sounds like an SL55 with a much more throaty exhaust. The larger tires allow you to put the power down sooner, so it may be a bit quicker than an E55. We pounded these cars all day long on the track and not one problem.
There is no other mfg. (maybe Porsche) that puts their product thru this public scrutiny. BTW, even in car crazy SoCal, it turns heads with its styling.

The biggest con is that the backseat is small. I havent been in a 5 series in forever, but im guessing it is a large difference.....i may be wrong though. Otherwise, i have also driven one at very high speed on a track and it handles pretty good for the amount of comfort it gives.
