CLS 55 vs Europe Mitsubishi evo VII? Not a kill story but comparison.

Hey guys I just overheard one member on this forum whose cls55 is giving him a hard time say that his car is not quite as fast as HIS mitsubishi evo VII MR mitsubishi racing, whatever that means. UH How the hell is that little s h i t car even near the performance of a cls55 and a new BMW M5? Has the world gone nutts? Now mind you unlike most MERCEDES OWNERS I TRULY RESPECT AND LOVE JAPANESE CARS VERY MUCH. I DON"T EVEN THINK THEY ARE RICER AS MANY OF YOU GUYS SAY, ESPECIALLY AFTER DRIVING MY GF"S NEW HONDA S2000 with only 240hp. What a performer on the track that car is! NOT TO MENTION RELIABILITY ahem shall we mention "LEXUS" LOL! Anyway, I still don't understand how these little cars that are costing way less are even near a $90,000k perfomance dubbed car like the amg.

I mean look at these numbers hp and torque are no where near the cls55 or bmw, yet look at the 0-60mph numbers amazing!!!!!!!!!!
Engine: 4 cylinder, turbo charged 1997cc
BHP: 276bhp @ 6,500rpm
Torque: 289ft/lbs @ 3,500rpm
0-60mph: 4.6secs (est)

All I gotta say is that I wanted to upgrade to a cls55 after graduating medschool/residency, but other than the MB prestige vs MITSUBISHI CRAP, if I wanted a 4 door performer that costs thousands less I don't think I need to look any further. I could just buy a cls500 for the "bling" and buy the EVO to kick everybody's a$$. This is really upsetting. I would even be willing to bring one back from Europe if it that is possible. That cars reviews have been amazing and honestly with numbers like that I personally would not mind being DUBBED "THE RICER WHO KICKED MY A$$" from BMW M5 and CLS55 owners. That is crazy! A stock, so called ricer car being able to KICK YOUR A$$! or at least hang with your $90k benzo without even having a trash can for a muffler. I don't know guys I don't think these "LITTLE" cars can be ignored much further What do you guys think?

2006 CLS55-030, 2002 BMW 540 Wagon, 1995 VW Jetta GLX
Thumbs up No Comparison!!!

Well I would say it all boils down to less weight and four wheel drive. The CLS55 weighs at least 700 lbs more and the two wheel drive robes at least .5 Sec. of accelleration to 60 MPH. Take the E55 Wagon, it's .5 Sec quicker than the CLS55 because it has more weight over the rear axel. Put 4-Wheel Drive in the CLS55 and you can kiss that EVO Good-By, in a Drag Race, with the AC on, some nice music on that you can actually hear, and a far superior ride while sitting in an interior that is 10 levels of quality above the EVO's interior. Now, put the two cars on a tight road course and the EVO will win, again because of the weight issue.

Bottom line the CLS55 is a much more versatile car than the EVO and the EVO is also not in the same luxury performance catagory as the CLS55 is. Two very different cars!!! - Bob

you are talking about meh.... hehehe if you think I was referring to a stock EVO you are kidding your self - I had all possible bolt ons the car was allot faster than my CLS - that was my personal preference not comparing the class of a CLS or EVO “obviously" but thank you for starting up a nice “talk shyt topic” I gave my opinion on the CLS and yes I was comparing overall power against my last car... whats the problem. I think each one of use purchased a CLS55 not only for luxury but performance - power being the reason why I compared it again my last car. If you want to know the truth - I bought the CLS just for client lunches I drive my 91 Suzuki Swift every day - yes that right Suzuki Swift its loud, its squeaks to ****, its gets 32/36mph and it out handles 99% of the car on the road- so b4 you try in a round about way to jump on my case about comparing a CLS55 to an EVO understand my personal position.

Arrow CLS vs. EVO

Evolution Marine is right, power to weight ratio is FAR better for the EVO compared to the CLS. The CLS carries all those luxury materials, such as wood paneling, leather seats and inserts, all those noise vibrating remover (did I get that right?), suspension (sophisticated electronic dampers) and other else which adhere more to weight. The EVO on the other hand is for those who seek raw performance at a fraction of a price (mind you, I also like EVO's especially when souped up with all those kits and all that). It has lesser weight with all the materials that were used not to mention a lighter engine as well. For those who buys CLS, its not the performance alone we're talking about, its finesse, style and prestige all in one package.

Suggestion: Buy a late 80s/early 90s Ford Mustang GT for $3K or so. Slap a blower on it. Do some intake and exhaust mods. For less than $10K, you will smoke the Evo, the CLS55, Vettes, Porsches.

You will also look like a klown in the process. Simple fact: people will view you as a loser in a Mustang, a punk in an Evo, and a successful young professional in a CLS55. If you are one of those people trying to convince yourself that you do not care about your image, then go for the Evo or the Mustang (or, even better, a big-block Pinto). Should you do so, I suspect that you will regret your decision the first time that you pull up to a valet station, and nobody seems to want to help you.

Simply put: The Evo and the CLS are in two totally different classes. If the classes seem the same to you, then go cheap, wait for yourself to mature (and develop taste), and then sell the punkmobile and buy something consistent with your professional status.

Problem? I have no problem. Jesus C hrist take a chill pill phil. WTF is wrong with you! Damn read my post did I ever bash you?.....no. I was just simply stating that i had no idea that a car like that, which costs a lot less than a cls55 would be in the same performance category as your beloved MB. I did not start a sh it topic. It is a valid point to bring up and you know it. These subaru wrx's and evo's seem like fantastic cars that are catching up if not beating out these german performance sedans that cost triple the money. If you read my post again, you will see that obviously they are in two different classes and I said a nice solution to that would be to get the evo to burn like crazy in the weekend and buy a cls500 or even a cls55 for professional dinners and lunches as you suggested. You know what, forget I even referenced you. Who the heck are you to talk to me like that . In about two months I'll be done with med school and have an MD attatched to my name. Other than the fact that I love medicine, another reason I went into medicine and anesthesia in particular si so i won't have to take s h i t! from people like you. Damn, you get so upset for something that even you realize is true about the equality of PERFORMANCE LEVEL on YOUR TWO vehicles and all I did was ask about it. WELL IF that's how you guys are going to be forget you all.
Arrogant *****s!
(EXCEPT for EVO MARINE AND SL%%-thank you for your insightful replys)

BTW if I interpreted you wrong, I'm sorry. However, your above post sounded kinda scarcastic and downgrading.

The Mercedes is geared for just over 200mph. The Mitsubishi is geared for 155mph, there is your performance difference.

i really dont think many people actually go 200mph in their 100k cars
i mean if u guys think a evo is a ricer or a cheap car u guys gotta be kidding. u guys r the ppl who prob use 100dollars bills to clean ur asses. a 30,000$ car is not considered cheap. it's called being smart and gettin THE best value for ur money. yea i understand there r people with lots of money and they have nothing 2 do with but buy themselves good things which is perfectly acceptable, but what i don't like is ppl making fun of cars because 1. it's cheaper 2. its japanese 3. it doesn't have wood.
the evo comes with leather, sunroof, infinity soundsystem w/woofer, AWD, and loads of extras. ppl who buy evos are buying them becauuse of their RAW power, not because they're cheap. have you drivin an evo? have you driven a go kart? i'm guessing 99% of u havnt because you come from a society where money is everything. money can't buy love. money can't buy a family. n e wayz i'm just saying a mitsu is as awesome a car as the cls55, if not better, because of hte price difference. back to the go cart point. the evo is the most lethal handling car in the world in stock production. it's amazing and it's one of its best selling points. it's not the speed that matters, in fact it's the speed that kills. it's the handling that matters, because in the end handling will either let you live or make u spin out and hit a tree, and with an evo the handling is pretty impressive. i say u guys with teh money buy a evo. it's not gonna dent ur pocket, and trust me when i say this, it'll change ur mind. don't worry about the looks. worry about the car. JUST BUY IT. u guys r rich enuff if u can afford a 90k car. buy this one and test it urself. u don't have to take it 2 dinner, take ur cls55 and get it valet parked, but take it for midafternoon spins, or weekend getaways at the track. life will be much better
haha
peace

Doesnt matter. Evo is a great car, but its not a Mercedes. Mercedes is a Mercedes, its prestigous, its expensive, its 100x safer than an evo will ever be, they are classier and have more options, they have a huge prestige factor, and did I mention an 8 cylinder supercharged engine with a luxury interior?

Ok, so the evo is faster. Big ******* deal. I can make a Kia fast if I really wanted to but the fact is at the end of the day, its a still a Mitsubishi, not that there is anything wrong with that, I think they have great cars, but grow up who really buys their Mercedes to drag race against evos.

Flame if you want to but even with all their gremlins Mercedes has a huge prestige factor and it always will. Its in a totally different class than the Evo. Think about it this way, when somebody looked to buy an S500, they probably also checked out an A8, Maybe an LS430 and a 7 series, but not an EVO.

I've had more than afew drinks so hopefully I made my statement clear enough to understand.
