Got my CLS55, Anyone have Mod tips?
Just picked up my CLS55 over the weekend. Blk, Blk - every option besides distronic. Love the car so far. Amazingly nimble for the size and the interior is a lot nicer than expected. I had driven the CLS500 as was not impressed since there is a lower grade of leather and non of the other fine appointments of the 55, not to mention the power, so I was pleasantly surprised. Anyway..
I was looking into the Renntech mod options and was wondering if anyone here has done any of them and what they think. Any experienced input would be much appreciated.
Thanks!

With the pulley you're looking at 50hp/50lb-ft torque gains on a good car.
75hp IMO is unrealistic.

That's what I was thinking. Also the bhp vs hp stats seem to throw people off when claiming increases. Would really like to see dynos of the mods.
Thanks!

Yes, Tom is a great guy. I used to deal with him back in the CEC days. Maybe I got my numbers crossed. So a 44hp gain. Not sure if that is worth the price.
Thanks!

evosport offers the evo1 and evo2 Power Packages for the car as well. evo1 is the Underdrive Pulley kit with Fully Dampened Crank pulley and custom ECU software upgrade. evo1 is $3,995.00 and you can expect 45hp-50hp gains at the wheels. Please call me if you have any questions.

Sounds good. I assume you have dyno results from some customers. Do you use your own products or are they Kleemann ect? I'll give you a call later today.
Thanks!

i cant decide between evosport kit or the kleeman one. i think the brabus and renntech one are overpriced and seem to make less hp.
anybody have any advice or opinions?

does each company design their own chip, or just copy each other? Why would Renntech be $1000 more for the same thing? Does one chip outperform the other?

thats a good point. makes it so hard to choose which tuner to go with!
any reason in particular on why you would go with kleeman?
im not sure if its true but i heard that they suppply mercedes with the supoerchargers that they use in their cars.
btw this is the info they emailed to me:
The CLS is a very nice car- I have one in my facility right now getting modified. We offer the following items for the CLS55:
K1 kit- Boost kit, ECU upgrade and Sport Filters: $3395.00 +45 HP, +50 TQ
(The K1 boost kit includes a Larger diameter crankshaft pulley, K&N air filters and our ECU upgrade tuned for California 91 octane gas.)
K2 kit- K1+ headers and downpipes: $6795.00 +95 HP, +105 TQ
K3 kit- K2+ Camshafts $10,495.00 +110 HP, +115 TQ
I would highly recommend doing the limited slip differential regardless of which package you choose as the car already has significant traction problems even in stock form.
Let me know which package interests you and I can give you additional technical information if you require it
i think for brabus and renntech you are paying a lot more just for the name as well. im not sure how much better or worse they are than their competitors

i dont think the brabus wheels are worth the money though. they are nice but the lip isnt big enough.
do u know if your tech guy has installed kleeman stuff before? hows the fitment and perofmrance?
