Exclamation FINAL content of 030 Performance Package

Hi,

I never thought I had to post this (because I thought it wouldn't be necessary), but this will be the content of the Performance Package. All changes (Thank God only a few minor ones) are displayed bold:

================================================== =======

· Special AMG body modifications for larger rear tires
· AMG sport steering wheel with Alcantara insets and thicker rim
· 186 mph (300 km/h) top speed (electronically limited)
· Special AMG suspension system (revised control arms and stabilizers)
· AMG "Compound" braking system
o AMG Compound front brakes: cross-drilled, internally-ventilated 15.0"
two-piece discs with AMG 8-piston calipers
o AMG rear brakes: cross-drilled, internally-ventilated 13.0" two-piece
discs with AMG 4-piston calipers
· AMG 19 inch twin-spoke multipiece alloy wheels with high performance
tires
o Front: 8.5 x 19 inch 255 35 ZR 19
o Rear: 9.5 x 19 inch 285 30 ZR 19
· AMG limited slip differential

================================================== =======

Although the brake- and rear-wheel size is a bit smaller than expected (Frank, you were right... ), I still believe $9,500 is a good deal (trust me, getting those upgrades in Germany would cost much more ).

Don't be confused by the new brochure for this package published by mbusa.com within the next days. This brochure won't show the complete content.

The list I posted is verified by the Team Leader - Consumer Promotions
Mercedes-Benz USA, so no rumours any more..

I wonder how long it will be, or if at all, that you can purchase some of these individually to mod the existing 55's?
*Special AMG suspension system (revised control arms and stabilizers and
the *LSD, would be a great add on for me.

When I grew up LSD didn't stand for "Limited Slip diff."

So it looks like we aren't getting the new AMG front bumper after all. That really sux!! Oh well, at least the rest of the stuff from the package is still there.

Did they say when they will hit the streets?

No, but my guess is December. The front-bumper would have been great, but that was actually never a part of this package, so I'm not THAT disappointed..

As I said, we are lucky that we get that much. A "manual" upgrade of those features included would be more than $9,500.

Thumbs up Concurrence

I got the same info from a member of the MBUSA-AMG staff in New Jersey. It is, I think, an incredible bargin, and I think that with these enhancements the CLS 55 becomes a car unique among not only Mercedes-Benz's and among not only AMG-versions, but unique among virtuall all other cars currently manufactured.

This CLS 55 is truly the first 21st Century automobile!

Anyone have a picture of this package fitted to a CLS? Would really be nice to visualize these upgrades on the car

Thanks,
The only discernable difference visually are the wheels. Is the body modified at all?

Supposedly the rear fenders might be rolled a bit more to accomdate the wider wheels slightly. Other than that the body has no major modifications to it. I wish we got the F1 bumper which has air ducts that cool the brakes, too bad MBUSA bailed us on that one.

If you are talking about the bumper like on the SL65, the vents do not cool the brakes. One side is blocked and the other has an additional oil cooler in it.
