iPod Kit installed finally

Today I finally had my iPod kit installled and the iPod nano that I bought can finally be put to use.

It was actually quite a mess with my dealer to have it installed. It was suppose to be a 2-3hr job and turned into an overnighter

My car was suppose to go in yesterday morning to have the kit installed and back to my hands yesterday afternoon, but they had schedule another job ahead of mine and that one ran late and so they didnt start working on my car till 2pm, and I was suppose to pick up the car by then. My car was the first one they did the installation and once they started on my car they ran into a problem as the brain of the command system is in the trunk near the navigation disc drive so they had to run the wires all the way back to the trunk. They were gonna bill me for 6hrs of labour but as they quote me for 2.5hr I said I am not paying an extra 3.5hr for your technicians to learn how to install one of these.

I wasn't happy when they ran late and missed my schedule and try to bill me extra hours but they made up for it big time as first they gave me a loaner car and let me drive as much as I want without worrying about refilling the tank and second they went back to 2.5hr labour and third they gave me a free sets of rubber mats for the car for winter.

My finally bill came to like 650 canadian and change for parts and labour.

Every Mercedes dealer in the world has a copy of the installation instructions for the CLS so I have no idea what the problem is with last minute disasters and suddenly finding out that things are not as they thought.

the iPod Kit works great, there is plenty of room in the glove box for me to stick my nano in there, and using the steering wheel buttons and the instrument panel display to select songs work pretty good, but I do miss the thumb wheel :P

P.S. I was told there are 2 guys that know how to install the iPod kit and one of them wassick and the other guy only did an installation to a M-class and a SLK and those 2 cars had the brain behind the command unit and when he found out the CLS didnt have the brain in a that place he went back to "rtfm" hence the "problem".
