Production delays
Hi. I have ordered a CLS55 and was told that it would be produced in October and delivered on or about November 8. The sales rep keeps telling me that the car is still in production and he can not give me a date until it is produced. No doubt it will not be here by the 8th. 
Problem being it has been in production much longer than expected and until it is produced he cannot give me an estimated delivery date. Anyone know what's up with this?
I have never ordered a MB and just wonder if any of you have had similar experiences.

Well for the past 3 weeks my salesman and I have been corresponding in person and on the phone. Netstar has shown my car (every option including 030 pkg) CLS55 to be in production for the past 3 weeks. That's no line of BS either. I actually saw "my name assigned to the car" and the status listed as "IN PRODUCTION" several times while looking at his computer Netstar order system.
My salesman, Zuhare Saedi at MB of South Orlando checks the order daily along with his CSI rating and looks to see if there is a change in production status. He says that Netstar will eventually show a new status illustrating the car has been produced and awaiting transportation. He was originally expecting a late Oct early Nov delivery date but unfortunately there was no change in production status thus far
I telephoned MBUSA to see if they had an information on CLS55 030 pkg delays and they said they had no such information.
My speculation is that since this is the first run of 030's that there is some type of small delay getting everything in order for the cars. I do have a printout from my order on Netstar that shows all the configured options and selections. Well it shows something very interesting under the 030 option code.. "AMG REAR BODY M" and then it cuts off and shows the $9500 price.
We really may be getting fender flares with this package after all..

Delay
Hi Tony. Thanks. I saw that post but did not order the 030 package. I DID order the designo graphite though. Dealer called today and said the car IS in production but may be delayed till the end of the month. Did not give me a reason for the delay. I's rather wait and get everything I want on the car.....

Yup, I went in last week to get a CLS 55 and the dealer was trying to convince me to get one they had in stock with none of the options or colors I wanted. But he made a good point when thinkin of how long it takes to get one ordered right now.

Just got the following from the German forum:
One guy told me that - although MBUSA already accepted orders on the 030-package - they just started building them last week (when the QM - I guess Quality-Management departement - gave their O.K.).
This might also explain why cars without 030 where built as scheduled and only cars with 030 were delayed - or you could also say "got stuck" in the production-status.
My "source" told me that this problem/delay was resolved last week. I do belive that this info is reliable since it makes sense to me...

I am now looking at a early January delivery date for my CLS55 with 030 Performance package. My sales rep just told me today that there were some quality control issues that had to be resolved for manufacturing purposes. AMG wanted to test the suspension a bit more according to him, as they felt something as out of spec.

I just spoke to my sales rep 2 days ago and production for my CLS55 w/030 option starts next week which will take one week to complete. Another 3 weeks for shipment and one week to ship from the dock to Las Vegas. Looking at a mid-December delivery. I hope he is right on the production start time.

I presume that the CLS is manufactured at Sindelfingen with the E-Class. If it is just ring them up direct and ask them at the factory. I had problems with my E options and when I rang to say the dealer wouldn't let me add some options they sorted it out straight away and told me the exact time of day my car was scheduled to begin production. They all speak brilliant English and are very helpfull. I'll try to find the telephone number for you guys.
