After a 3 weeks in the M5 (vs. CLS55)

Although I really loved my CLS, I must confess that the M5 has exceeded my expectations in many ways. Unlike a lot of the M5 people, I do realize that there are other fantastic cars out there. What I can say is that the handling of the CLS is right up there with the M5 (and much better than my previous E55). The M5 simply feels more nimble and tossable, but the CLS's lower center of gravity and excellent suspension more than makes up for any advantages BMW has engineered into the M5's suspension. The M5 does feel better (lighter) though. Good job by BMW on that.

iDrive is pretty crappy. It should have been used only for things like settings and navigation control.

I miss the radio controls. I miss the easy control over the vent distribution. I miss the torque! On the other hand, the SMG gearbox is a lot of fun and gets better as you know it better.

The look of the CLS...well, c'mon...it is sex on wheels. The M5 does look much better in person than in pics, but it is not nearly as striking as the CLS. The other thing that gets me is the fact that there are a zillion 5 series on the road. The average person probably can't distinguish my car from a 525. The CLS (500 or 55) is much more exclusive.

My perfect car would have an SMG gearbox, the new forthcoming 63 motor, the look of the CLS and the lighter feel of the M5....IS MB LISTENING????

By the way, selling my Renntech steering wheel from my CLS.

For me, The I-drive is a big factor of why I don't own a new M5

The CLS is IMO much better looking also.

Thanks for the feedback
