030 - CLS55 Delivery!!!!
#27
Bob,
It sounds like you have a bonified LSD equipped 030 CLS55! That sticker is not on any AMG other than SL65's, G55's and Performance package cars with LSD.
I believe it is 1850 Km or 1000 miles isn't it?
Give some serious thought the the break in period with the LSD.
As I mentioned earlier, two friends had their diffs go within the first 1000 miles. Both of them took the car directly to the dyno with just a couple of miles on them and did a bunch of full power pulls.
One of them posts over on the SL board. I was looking at another SL65 a couple of weeks ago that had about 2000 miles on it and the whine from the diff could be heard over the radio at highway speeds..... The owner never bothered to get it changed.
I have had all of them changed at 1000 miles and have never had a bit of trouble including my first SL65 that I put over 10,000 miles on.
Enjoy and Congrats!
Can't wait to see the pictures!

That sounds better...

So maybe, after all, the CLS55 does come with the LSD and the Window Sticker is not correct. It sure doesn't act like it's a "Single Driver". - Bob
That would be a BIG disadvantage for MB!
So, where are our pics..? Maybe you can add a picture of this famous window-sticker... :p

1. Skip the intro (unless you want to watch it)
2. Top left menu bar (under AMG) > click SHOWROOM
3. Select PERFORMANCE PACKAGES, then CLS 55 AMG
4. Look in the PACKAGE DETAILS list at the bottom. Scroll down and you will see it just below the "Maximum speed limitation (Vmax) increased ..."
The 030 package is not a bad value at all if the listed upgrades (brakes, wheels, LSD, steering wheel) are indeed included... would likely cost more if done aftermarket. Presumably there are at least some suspension modifications too, though they are not specifically listed as part of the package on the AMG site.
I look forward to pics and impressions of your CLS!

I think that it is a good, if not great, package. Certainly would cost you more to have a tuner do aftermarket. I was pretty sure that the LSD was included on the CLS....
I think that they didn't include the 'Nurburgring Suspension' mod in the 030 package on the CLS because they had already made new development changes in that model's suspension engineering/calibrations to the airmatic when they came out with it -- I remember something about that from comments made at the AMG Challenge events. Does anyone else recall that?

I found that in my files...
That's what the MB-guy I previously mentioned attached to his e-mail
(Sorry for the bad resolution, but the file was too big to post it in its original size...). If you have good eyes, you can see it shows "AMG locking differential" on the right side where all features are listed. Trust me, it's easier to read in the original mail...

Gorgeous car. I love the color combination. The AMG two piece wheels are very nice, too bad AMG doesn't make these in 20", a size which I think suits the CLS better.
Thanks for the pics.

I don't see a difference in the rear fender compared to my CLS55 either. Is the 030 that subtle?
