Talking Advice

Hello all!

This my first time posting although I am always perusing through the forms everyday. I have some opportunities to purchase either a :

CLS55
CL55
SL55

I know that the CL and SL are much more expensive than the CLS but something about that coupe is just sexy. The CL63 has been rumored on this site to come out in June so the CLS55's will probably be only a 1 year model? That would make me NOT purchase a used CLS55 as I would go straight to the CLS63. My questions are:

Which would you choose and why? I can get great deals on either of the three but the CLS really sticks out simply because I like the way that it looks. I am not sure when the CL and Sl new models will come out but if I should wait please let me know. Thanks for your advice!

CLS55 will be the most bang for your buck, in my opinion. I also have a feeling that the CLS63 will have a jump in price over the CLS55. So if thats the case would you rather have a $115k to $135k CLS63 or a $85k CLS55?
You won't be getting any deals on a 63, and I quoted $85K since you can get a deal on a 55. I wouldn't choose a SL or CL simply because they are a dime a dozen.

Thumbs up

Kevin,

Thanks for the reply man. I was in Beverly Hill's today doing some shopping and must have seen at least 20 SL55's and 4-5 Rolls Royce Phantoms...2 Maybachs...5 Bentley Gt's and 2 F430's. Simply amazing this part of California!

Anyways. I was curious about the resale value of the CLS55 concerning the CL63 is just around the corner. Or am I totally interpreting this information? There will be 3 model's of CLS? CLS500, 55AMG and 63AMG? Or is this the final year for the CLS55 AMG.

Quote- Your $85K price was fully loaded or with what options? If you care to PM me that is fine also.

Thanks for your help guys. This site is extremely helpful and I love hearing about your car gossip!

Not true, the cls 63 will price around the same as the cls 55, if there is a price increase it will be a couple of thousand, at most $5k. $115-$135 is cl and sl territory, and the cls is not considered in their category. Also the performance will not be drastically different so at $30k price increase would not be justified and sales would suffer.

CLS63 AMG VS CLS55 AMG

So you believe that the pricing will be very close? Within $5,000?

Let me get this straight. The CLS63 will replace the CLS55 correct? The CLS550 will replace the CLS500 correct? So are all 55 AMG models going to be replaced by 63 AMG?

What would you do? Or is there any official word on the wait?

Thanks,

LL

I'm not quoting MSRP prices, I'm quoting after options, I should have stated that. I agree the 63 will have at least a $5-10k jump in price. After some options and 030 packages this will put you close to $115K to $135K

LL,
You are correct on the replacements.

Where can you get a cls55 for 85k? I guess you can if you are fine with the fact that you don't have xenon lights or navigation.

Whats interesting is the new sl will have the 5.5 kompressor motor with a few tweaks. I guess MB still likes that drivetrain.

Another interesting thing I noticed was the cls63 gains the composite brakes of the 030 package. Dropping the rotating weight at the wheels with composite brakes combined with lighter wheels will make the car a bit quicker, no? so if MB goes to the 63 motor to cut costs, and can make it appear to be a little quicker than the 55, they get a lot of people feeling they are getting a faster car with newer technology, however, I am curious what the real world comparison will be between the 55 and 63.

(I tried to find where I saw the numbers but I saw the 63 motor's mileage will be a scootch worse around town due to the bigger motor and a scootch better on the highway due to a taller seventh gear.)

You can buy a used one, or you can do a Euro delivery,as we are doing. Also he mentioned he can get a deal, so I assumed a deal is about $5k off of MSRP

All are incredible cars.
I bought the SL because I didnt need rear seating and live in sunny Calif.
My good friend got a CLS and its awesome....however it is not as sporty as the SL....but is sportier than any other sedan I've seen.
Wait to see the new CL in the flesh to consider it as an option.

So, are you saying that if I do ED, I can save up to $7K from MSRP? And, this is before the price negociation - average is about $1K - hence, I can get like $8K off MSRP??? Plus, I also have the contractor discount $1.5K - hey, I can get the 030 for free!

Seriously, is that 7% plus minus DC is standard pricing?

Its 7% off of MSRP, from what I understand MBZ doesn't take a Euro Delivery car from the dealers normal allocations of cars. They also get paid a flat fee for basically brokering the deal. I didn't negotiate MSRP price, you may be able to though. Also prior to the CLS being on ED program, I had ordered a CLS500, now that deal was negotiated for $1k over invoice and it was also set up for Euro delivery, but that car came from the dealers allocation.

Typically

What are the discounts that buyers are recieving from dealers? Invoice? What is the invoice on the 55amg or the new 550? Feel free to PM as well. I know that it depends on options but I am very curious to hear your guys thoughts/experience. Thanks
