Just Had My First Dyno After Kleemann K4 Installed

Well I went to the dyno today to check out what kind of power the car was really putting down. I know that my butt meter is pretty accurate, but I needed some real confirmation to make sure. The dyno shop that was closest to me isn't really familiar with Mercedes, but they seemed knowledgeable about the whole dyno process. After strapping the car down, and getting everything set-up I finally got some good hard numbers, but they were very disappointing. I had a best of 464.51rwhp & 533.73rwtq
I called up Cory at Kleemann right away after I got back home and we were trying to figure out the problem. After a good talk with him he realized that I never put the car in Dyno Mode and it was applying the rear brakes the entire time. Now I feel like a total and the guys at the dyno had no idea that the car even had a dyno mode. So tomorrow I'll be going back to the Dyno again to try and put down some better numbers. I'll keep everyone updated once I redyno. Does anyone know the difference that the car will make in dyno mode vs. just TC turned off? Any guesses as to what the power will be at?

Great pics!! Congratulations.. Man, that is one beautiful piece of machinery. I just love those wheels!!

Dyno mode should definitely make a difference. Make sure they run it in 4'th gear in manual mode.

Also, I don't think they are taking your car up high enough in rpms to hit the rev limiter. Confirm this with Cory but you should now have a 6800rpm rev limiter. Mine pulls to 6900rpm on the dyno when the Kleemann limiter kicks in.

Any check engine lights with K4?

I've never seen a dyno buttom on the dash, but Kleemann sent me the procedure to get it in Dyno Mode.

I had one at first, but it was because I got rid of the cats, since then I haven't had a problem. I can't wait to get it back on the dyno!

Well I just got back from the dyno again. I wish I had some good news but I don't. I put the car in dyno mode expecting it to make a huge difference but I was wrong. I actually lost a little bit of hp and tq compared to yesterday not in dyno mode. I already talked to Cory at Kleemann and he says that it is running way to rich and I should be at around 12-12.5 and I'm at 10.05 on the top end so there is quite a bit more power to be made still. It was really disappointing not to have anymore gains after putting it in dyno mode, but I guess I'll just have to wait until Wed. or Thur. next week to get it redynoed. Hopefully I'll pick up alot more power then. I was expecting atleast 520+ at the wheels. I'll keep everyone updated when I get back to the dyno. Also, if the car feels this strong now, I can't wait to see what is will be like with an extra 50-70 more rwhp

Also make sure you have the latest ECU program from Cory. And if you have access to 100+oct do it! I'm always running 101+oct and will only switch when doing long travels. Since you're running K4 i'm assuming you're also running Kleemann Cams? If it's not too much trouble can you pls list the K4 parts? TIA

I would assume that it is the latest ECU program since it was only done a 2-1/2 weeks ago. I have no idea where to get 100+ octane around me, so i guess 93 will have to do. Yes, I am running the Kleemann Cams in the car. Currently the parts that are on the car are: K. Pulley, K. Headers and Downpipe, K&N Air Filters, K. Cams, K. Throttle Body, and K. ECU tuning.

I'm not really that worried about the car making the power that they claim because I feel like they are going to make sure that they do what they have to so it does. Cory and Brandon both seem very helpful when dealing with them, but I just disappointed that he told me it may take 2-3 more trys to get it dialed in. I understand that not having them do it in their shop can be difficult, but I just hate the down time. I just want to get the car out and drive it!!

I know how you feel. Been there done that. When i sent my car to CO downtime was almost 3-4weeks. But that's only because of the race cats not being in stock so they had to wait. But when i got the car back.... Hang in there it'll be worth the wait.

520 at the wheels would be around 650 horse with 19% loss per Klee.

I just don't know.....K2 cars are coming in at 585-600, K3 adds another 15, that's a ways to go to make 650.

Keep us updated.

Rest assured they will get you hooked up and your car will be dialed-in in no time. Cory & Brandon are the best in the MB mod business.

BTW, what wheels are those? They really look killer on the car..

Cory is the one that told me that the car should be at 520-530 at least, based on what kind of result Tony007 has been getting with his K2 monster. I expect more than his car since I do have the cams and throttle body, wouldn't you?

Cory sounds pretty confident that they will get the car up to those power levels, so I'm not to worried about it.
The wheels are made by Mandrus. They are 20s wrapped in PS2s. Here's a llink with a few more pics and more info on themWheel Pics

From what I hear from other boards, you do not need to put 100 plus octane fuel, the reasoning for that is only if your ecu is programed to burn the correct octane than it will be worth it. Otherwise waste of money.

"Dyno" mode just turns off all electronics ect not necessary for the engine. I found with it on and off I recieved the same dyno pulls with my K1. I beat another C6 Z06 by a nose this weekend and I cant imagine the power you must be getting with your K4. How in the world are you hooking up with out LSD???

Right now I'm not making all of the power that I should be making, but the ECU is on its way to Kleemann right now. So far I have had a very difficult time "trying" to hook up off the line. I feel like I can control it better with the esp off, but I still can't go full throttle until second gear without spinning the tires. I think once the car is making the full amount of power that it should be, then I'll end up soing the LSD, but untill then, I'll just have to keep buying more PS2s!!

I hear ya. With just my K1 I have serious problems getting solid launches with ESP off. With my accelerometer I am getting consistantly better times with ESP on. I think MBZ did a fantastic job with their ESP technology and probably accounts for the difference between a win or a loss in many of my street races. I know with the SRT-10 Viper and F430 it made all the difference. Huge advantage to be able to just point and shoot. Keep us posted on the K4 results. Very curious what your 0-60 and 1/4 will be.

Here's the link for putting the car in DYNO mode.

MUST GET LSD. I have K4 and it help greatly. With K2 I was having problems, but with K4 and LSD it is better and I am riding on Conti, before PS2, I know, I know, I prefer the Conti's. The PS2 were too soft, and felt every hole and crack on the road and I'm getting better performance with the lsd + conti's then K2 with PS2's

but the LSD is a must and should have been standard on the cls55, but then I guess the couldn't charge 10K for 030 package, pretty slick!
