Track Day for CLS55
Finally got my cls out on the track. It was my first time on the track. It was a rough start, but I got better as the day progressed. My best time was 11.95 @120.80, 60'=1.96. Not great, but I was happy with it for my first time. My best best trap was 121.5. I was having trouble getting it to hook, more because of my inexperience. I have K4/LSD and putting about 625hp at the crank - (Cory dyno it over at Kleemann). I was on stock 19 inch rims with stock tires with about 10k on them. The car was set on S mode with Sport II setting and ESP on. I also had to much fuel in the tank (over half a tank). I think with some practice on the launch, less fuel in the tank and some drags on, I can get to 11.5. It's not as easy as it looks. It takes some practice. If you haven't done it; I recommend it. Special thanks to blackbenzz for setting up the track day and to DJe55 for some great advise and super impressive runs.
It was a great experiece and I learned alot today. I am looking forward to future runs, and track days with Mbworld.org members.
Here is a video clip of my run:

Great run!!
Your car sounds awesome. That's the sound of the stock exhaust & big old Kleemann headers doing their job
Rumor has it that the fastest times are achieved in comfort mode with the transmission set to "S".

I have Kleemann headers & Down pipe, but remember I also have a exhaust cutouts with the valves, so I can open them and shut them when I want. I ran with them open all day,
see exhaust bypass video:

The header alone sound great, but with the bypass, it really opens it open and brings a step above, The bypass was a custom job done by RPM Racing in NY. Thanks

Performance Difference?
MG0427 - After you get your driving technique down and you settle on the Rear Tire and "Suspension & Trans. Mode" combination you like, see if there is any difference in the performance at the Drag Strip with the Exhaust by-pass valves closed. This would be interesting info. Also, your car must be a Performance Monster and a real thrill to drive!!! -

MGO427 - Congrats - you are currently the fastest CLS55 down the 1/4 mile to date - awesome run and an awesome car you have there.
But I do want to let you know that I am coming after you - my beast is still 100% bone stock - original tires and filters - and I want to lay down a good base line, and get my lauches nailed, long before I even think about mods.
On my E55, my best 60ft was a pretty damn good 1.784 on stock tires (even if I say so myself) - and I am hoping that with practice and the help of the 030 LSD that I can improve on it.
In my opinion the launch is everything - if you take a look at my E5 (aneamic compared to your beast) which never made it down the track faster than 115.5mph - it still ran a 12.169 after a 1.784 60ft time at only 114.4 mph.
So if you look at your own best of a car - getting that kind of launch nets you 2/10ths and should bring your ET down to around 11.75 or less.
So get that launch nailed and you will be tough to beat - for a while!!!!
Congrats - and keep on going to the track - you will get faster each time

Awesome video! Thanks for sharing it.
That exhaust growl is unbelievable... as Jeremy Clarkson would say "it sounds like Barry White eating wasps"

Thanks siswati, I hope we can meet one day and run them together, I am a little too aggresisve, your doing it right stage by stage with a good baseline to see where your starting from. I am not the patient, I am addicted and will be looking for some new rubber and more track time soon, I think I can get to 11.5 with more practice, others tell me there may more there, we'll see. I will be plently happy with 11.5 or better. It's the result I expected with the mods I have and the weight of the sedan. I just need more experiece. Good luok tonight at Moroso, looking forward to your results.

I was at the track with these guys and Milton's car is simply amazing. Beautiful car with all the goodies and it sounded incredible. Milton's CLS got faster with every run and I know it's in the mid 11's with tires. If you guys haven't tracked your car's, get to the track and have some fun. It's a blast!
