Need help on deciding on White or Black.

Hi, I am in the market for a CLS 55 and I'm having a hard time deciding on wheater to get a black/black 55 or a White/Charcoal CLS. Please give me your opinions and help me decide on which way to go. Thanks in advance

I don't have a CLS but I do have a black SL55 and a white E55. Tough choice. Black is beautiful but is demanding to keep clean and swirl free white is easier to care for. The white does show off the lines better than the black. I would favor the white slightly.

As much as I love a Black car, if I were shopping for a CLS, Alabaster White is my number one choice, it shows the lines so much better and grabs looks without looking like an attention *****.

Black is stunning when proparly maintained, white is beautiful with little effort. Ask yourself if you are willing to wash and polish more than you think it would take for that color.

Your worst nightmare...
White is awesome and black is very nice, I would favor white over black any day. Not an E55 owner or a CLS owner. I own a black C32 and i wash and polish it and park it outside every weekend that i have the chance to do this, 2 hours pass and it is dirty again, attracts too much dirt, specially if you are a clean freak like me. White is the final choice for me. if I ever get another AMG it is going to be white.

Thanks you guys for all your opinions. Im gonna go with White but i think ima wait a while for the 07 models. I dont see a point of paying the same amount im going to pay for a updated, faster version.

So what you guys are saying is that white is a lazy mans color?

Black looks good day and night.. white just doesn't wow me like a clean black car does.

also I'm a bit biased..

Not at all lazy but when you have 5 drivers that you refuse to let anyone other than yourself to keep spotless black is too much. I do agree that in situations like this you should have a black one in your corral

Question UHH - Same Money????

CLSFanatic - I don't think so! You will pay at least $ 4,000.00 more for the new CLS63. - Bob

BLACK is beautiful when it's CLEAN... But white will show more curve and easy to clean...

When I see this question a few questions come to mind. Do you plan on criusing in your CLS55 or do you plan on doing an F1 impersonation on the highway regularly? Black is better on the highway as White will get you noticed by the law quite quickly. White is better cruising around IMO, a White Benz is just magical for some reason, especially this new S and the CLS.

Do you want to maintain a Black car? With White it is rinse and go most of the time, Black requires a lot of work, but Black is the best color on earth to look at after a fresh wash AND wax.

I personally like the CLS55 in Capri Blue over Cashemere, but that is just me. I'd say take a look at some CLS500s in black and white and see which one really does it for you, try to see if your dealer has some with the AMG package on it since you aren't likely to find both a white and black CLS55s sitting around.

I've owned mercedes in
white - sharp - very sharp when clean
red - way cool in my younger days
silver - great traditional mercedes sports clor - easy to keep clean and keeps looking clean the longest

and black - the sharpest of the lot (but only for a moment). After 3 black Mercedes my E55 was silver and I loved it but the hotness just wasnt there - so this time I went for the CLS in black - its damn cute I have to say - but its a grind keeping it clean - its a full time job for sure!

I think black is HOT

CLS 55 Capri Blue
Although my car is dark (capri blue) I feel the lighter colors compliment the design of the CLS best. If I had to pick again, Silver would be my choice followed closely by White.

Good luck.
