I would expect the real numbers to be better....
...current E55 will hit 200 km/h better than that, and this thing has two more gears. Wish these guys would get these things on the market so we could see some test results already!!!

Do you honestly think an E55 is quicker than a CLS63?

And yes, the numbers printed for the CLS63 don't show any improvement, which is why I wrote that I expect them to be better. Here's what the article said:
With its impressive performance, dynamic design and exclusive equipment, the new CLS 63 AMG from Mercedes-AMG is a highly unusual automobile. The unique four-door Coupé is powered by a 6.3-litre V8 engine that was completely developed by AMG. With an output of 378 kW/514 hp and a maximum torque of 630 Nm, the new AMG power pack guarantees the very best in driving performance: the CLS 63 AMG accelerates from 0 to 100 km/h in 4.5 seconds and reaches 200 km/h in 15.1 seconds. The vehicle’s top speed is electronically limited to 250 km/h.

...and at 15.3 seconds from 0-200 km/h, here:

Meaning that those CLS63 numbers had better be conservative (and I suspect they are, particularly the 0-200 number), or this will be a marketing debacle....but Mercedes hasn't yet produced an AMG that was slower than its predecessor, and I doubt they'll start now.

sorry too quick to post

The AMG site has the CLS63 running .2 second faster than the CLS55 to 100kmh. It had better be faster or I'm a marketing sucker because I'm trading my CLS55 for one. I'm hoping the new transmission will bring some responsiveness to the car that the CLS55 lacks.

2012 CLS63
I remember reading a car magazine many years ago where an AMG engineer was quoted as "people say they want horesepower, but what they really love is the torque". I agree 100%. I don't get excited over the specs on the new 6.3. I think the whole explaination of creating the new engine so it can work with the 7 speed transmission says it all.
Unless the seven speed has a very low 1st gear (much lower than what the 5 speed has) I don't see it giving the trill of the supercharged 55. However I do believe it will have more power in the 6,000 plus rpm range than the 55 does. That to me is just a benefit for high speed racing on a track "with the petal to the metal".
The five speed AMG modified transmission is not going away, but will be "reserved" for the biturbo 6.5 beasts.
I love the low end torque, and just hope that when I am ready to trade my car in 2-3 years, AMG will have a turbo or supercharged 6.3 for the CLS.That would be really exciting news to look forward to.
