CLS55 AMG Break in

Hey guys,

I am about to take delievery of a brand new 2006 CLS55. After reading through many posts here in the board they advise I break in the car hard.

One poster (forget the name) suggested that I go to WOT for 15-30 -- that kind pedle action will take the car to 150mph!!

I live in the NYC area and don't know of any places where I can safely hit 150MPH either without killing someone or getting my license suspended. I was thinking about taking my car to a track for the first 100 or so miles. Something along these lines: http://www.limerock.com/trackinfo_maps.htm

Do you guys know of any pay to race tracks in the NY / NJ / CT area?

I jus wrote a good amount and the damn computer crashed. I broke in my car on Florida's Turnpike. Born and raised in N.Y., im up here in ny for a little visiting....but im from florida. You dont really need to exceed high speed numbers in order to break it in good. Aggressive and driving it hard(not to much ) should do it

really?! I cannot afford a cls, but I'm curious, is that how you really break in a new engine? I've heard that can lead to premature ring wear..and the manual for my c says to avoid full throttle for the first so many miles. ive heard the same about motorcycles too. Just curious.

So says the MB manual to break it in softly... keep it in comfort mode. Avoid full throttle and gear kickdowns, blah blah blah.

But after reading this:
https://mbworld.org/forums/c219/119005-break.html

Im convinced of his method. Others have conccured.

I guess ill take my car for some nice trips up and down I-95 this weekend then. I can't wait. They are gonna have to surgically remove my skin tissue from the seat by the time the weekend is over

Every engine is tested at a very high RPM and load prior to installation in the car. Avoid steady RPM's and excessive use of cruise control.... other then that.. drive it like you stole it..

I still cant believe how sound the R is at those high speeds and the acceleration is great for such a heavy crossover

What about revving the engine up in, let's say second gear to 5000RPM, and then letting go of the throttle (like engine braking). I've heard this creates negative pressure in the engine and thus helps seal it or break it in. Can someone confirm or comment?
