Curb weight is listed at 4,210 lbs for the CLS63, which is a 160 lb gain over the CLS55.

I thought the new engine was lighter, and there is no supercharger / intercooler on the new models. Is the 7sp tranny heaver than the 5sp ? If not I wonder what the new bloat is from.

MB was being a bit hopeful with the curb weight specs on the CLS55 in 2006. They claimed the car was lighter than an E55 but in fact it was heavier. AMG's web page had a curb weight that was 200 lb higher than what mb was using.

Driving an E55 and a CLS55 back to back showed a difference. The CLS did have more grip due to its SL sized wheel and tires but the car was less nimble, more ponderous, and just less responsive.

Several tuners noted this and I saw it first hand at the AMG challenge. The instructors/drivers at the challenge said a CLS had to be driven harder with later braking points and higher speeds on the straights to keep up with an E55. Everyone agreed the E55 was the better car at the road course.

It is a bit hard to reconcile MBZ and AMG weights, since the EU weight includes a 68kg driver, 7kg luggage, and 90% full fuel tank. US curb weight, I think, excludes driver and luggage but includes a full tank of full.

Accounting for this, the MBUSA and AMG weights for the CLS55 are pretty close. But there is a discrepancy for the CLS63, which MBUSA is showing heavier by 160 lbs, and AMG is showing lighter by 15kg

Note that the only way to get bi-xenons is in a package that includes Keyless Go for $3,900.

I wouldn't go by that just yet. That looks like it was lsapped together real quick. Notice how you can't go to the bukld your own option yet. Wait until you can build your own then it should be pretty accurate.

No. It's the new "streamlined" marketing of options. I saw it here first:

I'm willing to bet they will have more stand alone options. Just to give you an example if you click on the same page for the CLK63 Cabriolet, they don't even list Bi-Xenons as an option. Its not in any of these so called "packages". And no its not standard. Under exterior specifications it says it comes with halogen bulbs. So don't go by this package thing just yet.
