Thanks to Jim over at smokedlamps.com
He came through right on time, and a great job.

Do you remove the taillight covers and send them off or what? How hard was it if that was the case?

Yes I removed them and sent them to him.
You have to remove the black molding around the rear frame of the trunk,
there are a few black plastic rivit type things that pop out, once you do, that gives you access to the back of the tail light after pulling some carpet back. There are about 6 8MM nuts that hold it in place. The left side was easy, the right side was tuff because there was this air tank hiding one of the bolts. I was able to remove the bolt without moving the tank, but installing it was a different story, there are just two nuts holding this tank, once you remove it, you can easily access that side nut on the tail light.
It will take you about 45 minutes to remove then, and about the same if not longer to re-install.

Pic of the tank I'm referring to on the right side.
From the pic you can see 4 of the 6 nuts

Those look hot on your black car! I was thinking of doing mine, but decided against it as the stock lights (even the orange ones up front) look okay with the graphite paint.

Thanks for the tip on those chrome door locks. Ordered a set from Ebay for cheap and took five minutes to install them. Much nicer than the plastic mushrooms Mercedes gave us !

The tails look great Kevin. Where did you take your car for the window tint? I went to US Tint and had them do 35% on the sides and 20% on the rear, with felt lining added to prevent scratching the tints. They did a great job, but charge an arm and a leg. I didn't mind paying extra to have it done right at a reputable shop, because I was less than impressed with the last tint job on my sedan.

Haven't had the windows done yet, I have a appointment with US Tint tomorrow. He has done all of my care for the last 10 years. I usually do 35% all the way around, and we will probably do a very light tint on the front as well. Thanks for the tip on the felt lining, I will mention it to them.
See you around Blake.

I'm very disappointed in this thread. Here I am in the AMG forum looking a thread title of 'Smoked em' and I expected to see pictures of smoking tires...instead there's just the tail lights of a stationary car.
