Euro COMAND
This will not accept the TV Tuner from what i've been told, but the guy i bought my unit from says there's a MBZ TV Tuner that plugs into the audio gateway in the trunk:
Here is a list of different part numbers that i got from another post, they're somewhat accurate from my experience:
http://www.mercupgrades.com/comand/COMAND-APS.htm
if one does not want one's car to be broken into and getting parts stolen out of - I can not see how one can be so enthusiastic about buying stolen goods like these...there is a reason why these units can be sold that cheap
comand sales to german MB dealerships has taken up extremely the last 3 - 4 months due to the fact that multiple comands get stolen out of parked cars at night...the area where these comands get stolen (10 to 30 per night) vary per 2 - 3 days and it covers entire germany
This probably sounds like I am bad mouthing the competition but I do not care about the competition (as I get my stock of comands sold to german dealers without a single problem as long as these comands get stolen in such excessive numbers)...I just do not understand how enthusiasts like the people on these boards can justify buying stolen goods where as they would completely flip when their car is broken into.
greetingz,
If this is true, why doesn't Ebay shut these sellers down ? I certainly would not buy a unit if it was sourced from a thief.
From where are the units offered within the USA (i.e. MBdoctor) sourced ? They usually sell for $1,000 or so, about double the cost of the Lithuanian units.
These sellers sell from lithuania as it becomes impossible for justice to trace AND CATCH them down there.
The only thing that german justice does about these lithuania sales is visitiing the GERMAN buyers and notyfying them that they bought stolen goods which is against the law and usually results in the goods being impounded (this takes a couple of months).
Most of the ebay sellers that come from lithuania change their selling accounts every 2 - 3 months (there are a lot of low feedback sellers on ebay that are "located" in lithuania).
greetingz,
honestly, the only way to know if the part is legit is buying it directly from Mercedes. I wouldnt even trust ebay sellers from the US that has low feedbacks.
and how about some of these FOLLOW UP feedbacks:
I stopped somewhere halfway through his feedback...I would say that eventhough he has a 500 digit feedback - it is still one of those typical lithuanian sellers...just decide for yourself wether you want to drive around with stolen goods.
greetingz,

Thanks
The Best of Mercedes & AMG
I have had my car (the first one I owned, a VW Golf) broken into twice and found it back with a hole in the dash where the radio used to be...and that sucked big time. The people who used to own these navigation systems before they made it to lithuania probably felt worse then I did (mine was "just" a golf).
When one reads through german mercedes forums one will see posts from people who DOWNgraded from COMAND to APS30 or APS50 simply because their comand got stolen multiple times already...people who file the stolen comand at the police station get to hear that they are number 15, 20 or whatever that does so that very same day.
I am sure when one reads through german VW and BMW forums one will be able to find the same stories.
GERMAN EBAY + LITHUANIAN SELLERS = stolen goods
My point is that it is wrong to buy stolen goods and it is even more wrong to recommend others to buy stolen goods because I am sure that whenever one of the people active in this thread finds his/her car broken into and stolen stuff out of, that person will be pissed and will write a whining post about it on this forum as well.
I am not trying to make people buy from us - there are plenty of other LEGIT sellers of the same kind of parts...just don't sink yourself to the level where you start buying from people who sell stolen goods (and it doesn't matter wether you're drving a new CLS55 or a 20 year old civic).
PS: one of he reasons why we only sell NEW (211, 219, 171) DVD comands is because we know that whatever used comands are offered - 75% is stolen, 20% is broken and 5% is clean and in good working condition...and I do not want to have to search for that 5%.

dont get me wrong, i'm not trying to justify my purchase. items such as these are either pulled from wrecked cars or stolen, simple as that. Base on the amount of positive feedbacks the seller has, i given him/her the benefit of the doubt. The only way to be certain is to get it from MB or locate a junk yard in europe and pull one yourself.
Anyone who shops on eBay are either looking for bagains or locating hard to find items. By doing so, they are taking a risk of ending up with a stolen, defective or an item that is sold by an unathorized dealer, especially when it comes to electronics. I dont know of a manufacturer who allow their authorized retailers list any product on the internet at discounted price.
Another thing; If you read my post, "I" did not recommend anyone on this forum to go buy stolen goods. "I" found a good deal on one and wanted to share with fellow members on this forum.

Not sure about the ML model, I do know that you just need the Euro Nav discs and your nav will work. When I had my CLS in Europe they provided the Euro Discs, the head unit was the same and works fine in the US. Yes all the wires should be the same, at least they were on the CLS.

hope this works out
Separately, and realizing that this is a naive question, what are the feature advantages of the Euro COMAND over the US versions, please? thanks.

And is the 7039 still preferred over the 6061?
Thanks!
