Cute Observation with the Clock
I drove from S.C. to MS. yesterday and back today. Both times when I hit the state line between Ga. and Al. the clock automatically cycled back one hour and forward one hour on the return trip. This is the first time the car has been out of the Eastern Time Zone. That was a shocker since the clock doesn't cycle on its on when the time changes in the Spring and Fall.

Also, you can choose to have your clock in sink(sp?) with the Head Unit (nav) or not.
In other words you can choose to have the clock change when you change time zones or have it not change.

AL is usually not that flooded with cops (except in construction zones - they double your fine - it helps the lowest tax burden state population in the nation increase revenue). You just hit the enforcement ramp-up for the holiday weekend. Normally +10 outside of congested and construction areas doesn't even get you a radar POP. Lidar is a joke in AL since they are really easy to spot and its just getting started. Just run with traffic and have a V1 when you need to make time. Normally MS is much trickier than AL (they seems to be a lot sneakier).

Alba: I should have asked you ahead of time about the miserable drive along Hwy 82 between Tuscaloosa and Starkville. That 100 miles seemed like an eternity. I did have my Passport on though.

They are working on getting rid of the 2-lane parts of US-82 west of Tuscaloosa (as you saw as you poked along). 
If you did not know about the toll bridge on the west side of Tuscaloosa, you had to drive through on US-82. No fun with UA students turning the roads into silliness.
Worth the $0.75 for where you were going.
I assume that your trip was to watch USC spank MSU?
BTW, the R does the auto time zone change thing too, but it will not go backwards 1 hours, but forward 11 hours.

I have a house right on a "timeline" where it swaps back and forth twice on the way there.
