Thumbs up Mark Matias at WI SIMONSON(CLS63AMG)

See thread "making the deal cls63".....What an incredible dealership and what a great sales experience.

I just got home from the dealership in my NEW CLS 63 AMG blk/blk 030,p2 parktronic, trunk closer MSRP 110305..purchased paint and interior protection and lojack.

Guess what? The dealer stood by the mistake a sales team member made. (overstepped discount)Thank You for this, Thank you.. The Sales rep offered me the car @ below invoice.Turns out she made a booboo . I whined about this all night 11/1 and sent some emails to other dealers and Managers at Simonson. I also posted the debacle in the thread" making the deal for the CLS63"... WELL GUESS WHAT? Mark Matias internet manager at WI Simonson in Santa Monica honored the deal and even sweetened it a bit more. This car is ******* more than I imagined. Sorry but it sticks to the road much better than the E class, it is quieter, smoother and more comfortable. It jerks you around more straight back, more than I thought after reading the numerous threads in this forum discusssing loss of torque and speed etc..My goodness this car is SOLID. The Brakes and handling I believe similar to a porsche IMO. much better. The back seat , well not really a seat but it is great for my two 5'6" lady friends(kidding wifey). The interior is comfy and the wheel beefy and feels like a real sports car vs. the sedan flavor of the E.The ac goes down to 52 and the seats actually blow cold or hot air. The power delivery is smooth and dramatic. And yes the traction light does come on when mashing the pedal , she now has 51 miles.I think this car from a roll is as fast as I have experienced in a stock vehicle. Yes it is worth the upgrade from the E. The E55 is AWESOME but I think maybe just maybe I will like this 63 more, less heat , less engine noise and superior handling and braking.

Ok I will get some pics, I plan on racing a helicopter and filming it when I hit 1200 miles. I have a friend Peter that will film it from an airplane. Cool stuff. 186 should outpace the 160 mph chopper

Congrats. I also have an E55 and I test drove the CLS63. It rode way smoother and felt so much better(more confidence) than my E55.
Does your 030 package make the ride any firmer than the standard CLS63?
How does your 030 ride compare to your previous E55?
Thanks for the input.

The performance package likely allows you to feel the road even more. So yes it is firmer. I have kept it on comfort and the sport ride setting. More contact with the pavement , larger tires and brakes. The 030 package may hurt 0-60 1/4 mile times but help in overall driving experience IMO. My E55 was equipped with identical rims and PS2's. Tire size was identical but the CLS 63 has a softer tire, Pirelli P zero rosso's. I think they are smoother or the CLS suspension was improved? Overall the CLS is quieter and better on the twisties. It definately has a different feel. It really is amazing that large of an engine produces so little sound in the cabin. To me the CLS feels more like a sports car, and compares to the E55 on many levels. The E55 was really fun and scary fast on straight away stretches , but the CLS seems to be more driver connected. It handles IMO far better. My E55 however was an 03 so I believe the performance in newer 55's(better steering) may be closer to the CLS. The steering wheel in the CLS 030 is a vast improvement over my stock E55. The addition of Paddles is huge, I had buttons. The paddles are nice, and very comfortable to use. The parktronic feature is subtle and very useful for keeping the spoiler from hitting the ground and keeping away from the curb as well as parking. If you need a 4 seater the CLS is really not as good as the E55. The backseat in the E55 is as comfortable as the front. The panorama roof in the E class is amazing, and lacking here. Also the loss of the drive dynamic seat sucks but the new seat is bolstered and feels good. I think the cooling and heating feature in the CLS work better than in my 55. Maybe it was broken. The smooth power delivery may be why so many people think this car to be not as fast. Cruising at 70-90 you may think you accidently turned off the car. Getting out of the vehicle today I actually forgot to do just that as the keyless go feature sometimes can be a hazard. I honestly could not hear the car running and only noticed because the radio did not go off as I was walking away from the vehicle. The E55 is so different under the hood but the CLS retains most of the 55 interior, mirrors, seat controls, command. Positioning is the same so it is easy to make the transition. If you learned in a 55, you will love the 63.

Thanks for the writeup. I can't decide if I want the 030 package or not. When I first decided on the CLS, I thought it was a no brainer because of the LSD to help with the launch. With the CLS63 having less torque, I think the LSD is not necessary unless you take it to the track. But, I love the rims. But, I don't know if they are worth 9,900 for the rims only. I take a passenger almost everyday and I didn't want to firm of a ride compared to my E55.

By the way, I did notice how smooth and quiet the CLS63 was compared to the E55. But, there was a mean growl when it was floored. That was awsome.

I thought the tire size was the same on the 030 compared to the CLS
285 30 19.

Do you think your CLS rides firmer(feel more bumps) than the E55?

It is smoother than my E55(2003). The rims alone on the 030 package would cost 5-6k,. I know the performance package offers superior brakes as well as the LSD. I am not aware of normal CLS 63 tire size as the only way I wanted her was w/030. With suspension on the softest setting and in c mode the car rides like a maybach. So very quiet and so very smooth. Yep I noticed that snarl when mashed it is great sounding. If you want a soft ride go with CLS 63 you will be able to get it loaded as the 030 package is not really available and you likely get a much better deal on a fully loaded CLS63 w/o 030. You can always add a great rim for 3-6k afterwards. If you are really into performance the 030 package is a "must"IMO Thanks for pointing out the LSD helping launch, I definately notice it.
