Cheap CLS by Chrysler?

Looks like the Chrysler Nassau is coming towards us in 2007 - it is to be based on MB CLS - http://www.automobilemag.com/auto_sh...assau_concept/

I am officially scared now...

YOUR 95K car is now parts sharing with the likes of the such classics as the 16K out the door PT cruiser, ... which is about the cost about the worth of your FLOOR mats and leather seats..

scratch that...not parts Sharing...

AN ENTIRE PLATFORM SHARING HEHE

It VERY obvious what market they are targeting. And from the looks of it in Houston chrysler is doing a GREAT job!!

You would swear they think they are driving Bently's and Rolls Royce. Oh well, to each his own

It is a very lightly based vehicle. The 300c shares some parts but front suspension, steering systems, and most other parts are not exactly the same. The chassis is not all that similar as well. It does use some mb electronics, mb rear suspension, mb diff etc.

The CLS based Chrysler will likely come to market AFTER the current CLS is out of production. To share a platform after it has been through its life cycle with MB is fine in my eyes. It cuts costs and gives the cheaper car a good starting place upon which to build a car for the masses that just 3-6 years ago was only around for the wealthy.

When Dodge gets a CLS it will be nothing compared to the new CLS from MB. Not that big of a deal.

An Affalterbach Beast & Others
It may succeed, there have been a lot of well built cars from them lately, but I think that the CLS, especially a CLS55 would actually be a car do drive for a bit, but if possible, but the car aside and keep it for a long time, certain AMG vs. M cars may be what I think possible apprecition cars in, say thirty-five years or so. The CLS is the best looking and the first of the class. It will be copied by numerous makers from this point, we'll just see how well.

I applaud the phantom, that is its unique product,

But not when MB spends 1 BILLION creating the CLS/E top of the line platform and chrysler gets it for free !

If they get it for free, they dont' have to charge any R&D, and can sell it for 16K and make a profit.

How is that fair to the MB folk who buy CLS for 95 K?
