I burned 100 tracks onto a CDR. Track information along with time code displays on the nav unit and in the dash. Pretty awesome.

I think I'll save my money and spend it on illuminated sills instead of Ipod integration!

100 songs are plenty for me also!

What player are you using for this CD, CDC or DVD Nav? Does this work on the 06 55?

06 CLS55. Only works in the single CD apparently.

Didn't you read your manual???

Another interesting tidbit is that the mute button is actually a pause button for CD's!!!! Not in the manual!

i had the icelink in my bmw for years before i got the mbz. i paid extra over other options because i wanted the 'steering wheel controls' and i wanted the words to pop up on the dash.... but what i realized is when theres something i want to hear, you'll never get there (or it takes forever) without using the trackwheel.... so ultimately, what steering wheel controls are you going to use? they will work, but since you will find yourself controlling everything thru the ipod, its useless... at least thats my $.02.

Gotcha

I see your point. Going through 10,000 songs one click at a time will be tough.

Though you can use the navi controls too no?

yeah sucker reads mp3's great , i burned a cd with 146 tracks.lol so you could load close to 1000 songs w/o the extra player. It reads the info and anything you typed in prior to the burn.Amazing. Gone are the days of 13 song per CD

Thanks guys for motivating me to do this. Just put my fav playlist (119 songs) on a CD and popped it in. It works great and adds to the experience quite a bit. I don't like that you can't see the artist's name, just the song. All my driving songs are on there. My top three driving songs for this car so far:

1) Fired Up (busta rhymes)
2) Stunt 101 (50)
3) Going the distance (Cake)

The sound quality is very good. i wonder how it compares to the iPod kit.

If you put 100 songs on one CD, and you want to hear track #73 do you have to push the down or up button on Command 73 times to get to the track, or is there a quick menu of sorts?

You can just hit *073 , or you could hit up 73 times. But it works very nicely and it's not as big a pain as you might think.
You can also have multiple folders (different playlists) and then the right arrow will take you through the folders, very much like your phone book.
