Low key battery

Hardly worth a post but I have only had the car 2 months and the key battery warning came on today already. Does the keyless go battery really run out that often? Is the battery covered by the warranty?

No they dont run out fast, probably just a non-brand battery. Go to the dealer they will change it out for free, at least they did for mine.

this happened to me, take the remote apart and open up the prongs where the battery sits. The bad contact is what is giving you the problem. These are lithium battery's generic or brand they should atleast last 6 months.

Had mine for almost two years now and no issues with battery/remote. It's either you have a bad battery, or bad contacts. Either way, your dealer should be able to fix it for free.

The problem you DO have is some serious envy and a smooth $30K depreciation in 1 short year. Don't worry, I'd be pissed too if I'd bought a car and only one short year later a new update came out and rendered mine outdated.

I'd be pretty heated if my car was being priced below MSRP the year it was released.

Nice way to respond to a statement that contributes nothing to the thread, or even sensibility in this case. Bugs the **** outta me when people do that

I was wondering if you've had any red battery warnings in the MFD and the "visit workshop" with the battery images issues...I've got an 03 E500 so i probably don't belong here - and the visit workshop MFD warning came on once, I'm pretty sure its due to cold weather as its been -7 degrees in Chicago for the past week, the warning went away without me going to the dealership.

Which leads me to my final question...how long do you start and leave your car running before you start driving it? When I start up the car the engine revs around 15 rpm for about 4 secs without me putting any gas - I guess to heat up? My parents tend to let their car heat up for a minute or more...and I was wondering if that was what you're supposed to do...because I don't and I will...if I should. Nice sig by the way.

Actually mine was referring to the battery in the key, not the car battery. It didn't ask me to visit workshop, just to change the battery.

As for letting the car warm up. I always understood that to mean that the oil temperature would be high enough for optimum viscosity. If I have time to let it warm up I wait a few extra seconds. Today's motor oil is a lot more advanced though and I don't think it's really necessary to wait where I live in SoCal. the coldest it ever gets here is around 40ish.

You do realize that yours did to as soon as you drove it off the lot, right? Theres a '07 cls63 for 92k, and '06 cls55 for 86k on mbusa. Nothing near 30k which you stated. I bought mine cpo early last year, in case you were wondering.

92K is MSRP for a base CLS63.
Do me a favor, go to ebay, search for CLS55 and you'll see a dozen of them in the low 70s. But you're correct, I don't think the 63 is going to do much better in a year.

I have never been one to knock the 55, Kevin started it. As you know I was very torn between the two myself. If fact I'm picking up an SL55 shortly.

Man you obviously don't have a sense of humor, do you see these things..
"Kevin started it" What is this elementary school?
Go have some coffee, and respond like a adult man.
Also do you really think there is a difference in key battery's in the 63 & 55?
This is quite funny.. Thanks for making my Friday

Oh I have a great sense of humor. I laugh EVERY time I hear something FUNNY.

It's cool bro. I was kidding as well in my first reply. I just hate how every thread goes to the 55 vs. 63 discussion. You don't believe me? Read every thread in the past week. It's getting pretty lame.

55 = old/classic
63 = new classics
IN FUTURE 63 w/ Twin turbos = new Hot one
that is all

some people HATE being part of the "old/classic" crowd
myself included
