Boring and Stroking a 63

Instead of all these talks about supercharging or turboing the new 63 engine, why doesnt renntech go back to the old school by boring out and stroking the engine. Bigger pistons, a bigger crank and new cam should bring this power up to where we want it. They used to do this on the old n/a v12 engine with sizeable results, wonder how long it will be before it is an option on this v8. Anyone with any info on the matter?

For any other NA motor I'd say this is the way to go, however there are a few major pitfalls when considering such a tuning option. First of all, you'd be truly molesting that motor. Everything that makes it special, the components, the "one man, one engine" philosophy, right out the window along with your resale value. That's just one thing to consider, the next would be the absolutely prohibitive costs, both for the components and the machining and labor. Then you have to have everything balanced and reassembled, and god forbid the work isn't top notch.

While I think the results could be fantastic with this sort of work, those are things to consider. I'd bet you could bump that engine out to 7 liters and make it a 600+hp Z06 murderer, if you didn't grenade the tranny first.

joemoney: One of the new features of the E63/6.2 motor was the "coated" cylinder liners of the motor. My impression is that boring this motor would not be good!

Yeah and also, how many liters can you really get out of an 8-cylinder engine? Isn't 6.2 ridiculous enough?

I say get the TT if ever available.

That really depends on the block, and how thick the cylinder walls are.
