Hey trezai,

Yeah, make sure you do a throttle reset also. Like I said, i did a 0-60 in 4.07 which wasn't possible before. You're not gonna notice THAT much of a difference of course, but you'll notice the diff if you drive around for a while. Make sure they can measure your RPM, I'd love to see the new torque numbers.

BTW, we didn't dyno in dyno mode, we did it in normal mode.

I removed one charcoal color filter in thge engine compartment , passenger side close to the windshield. The box is black and inside was a large filter. Uh it looks nothing like the box Vadim removed? Hmmmmm help please. In the ML63 thread they talk about removing air "BOXES" not just the one charcoal filter. Ok did I just do smtng wrong?

Okay here it is. The area in yellow is what houses the filters. but there are two sets of filters in here. one set (the bigger thicker ones are just your air filters, you neeeeeeed those!!! the ones you want to remove are the ones that are actually inside that plastic piece. I have posted a picture of what they look like. You might want to remove the cover (in red) for easier access.

this is what they look like:

Ok got it...Looks like some type of filter that allows the passengers to breathe LOL.. Ok pieces are off, charcoal filters 2x are out. One on each side. I will put back the others , THANKS FOR THE GREAT DETAILED PHOTO. Guess I should have asked prior to just yanking anything greyish on the vehicle . This airfilter is under a piece of rubber and it is a trapazoid shape quite large and made from the same filter material as the amg charcoal filters.

Thanks,

Josh

After removing the filter bang out and or vacuum out the larger air filters. There is alot of dirt trapped, lightly tap it out . Now the grey filters are G O N E , the ZO6, the 911 TT and others shall be terrified. WOOOOOOOOOOOOOOOHOOOOOOOOOOOOOOOO, incredible free M O D. Does this mean the 63 is now pumping out 522 hp? SAWEEEEEEEEEEEEEEEEET

Wo there tiger, don't go racing any 911 TTs just yet.
Let's see before the mod, it was 507 at the crank and 420 at the wheel so :

420/507~ 83% sooo..

442/.83 ~ 533 HP

But I am sure we'll get attacked in 3 .. 2 .. 1

Hey seriously , the car jumps , for the first time 3k plus miles, filters removed, the car feels FAST , I mean seriously why do they dummy our cars? 533 hp is getting serious, we need to post some track times to put an end to the sixty three bashing

Question

How do these charcoal filters in the intake reduce emissions in the first place?

Thanks

Instructions are in this thread. You just need to drive the car hard for 5 minutes to achieve this. Put your key in the ignition. Turn to position 1, floor the car w/o turning it on, hold the pedal down. Wait a few minutes and start the car..The bigger project is removal of the filters. Read carefully prior to attempting either as I am just responding because I am b o r e d, hopefully I gave u some necessary advice

They are much finer than the Mann bros filters that remain, so they prevent the finer particulates from being expelled in the air. Similar filter is located on the passenger intake for the heater /ac ducts. The charcoal color is a very fine particulate filtration lining. I suppose while increasing AIR intake they removal also may increase the particulate intake into the engine. So for the increase in hp you could see the engine get dirtier but the Mann filter is sufficient in filtering dirt and larger particulates. The MU ratings on the filters is vastly different.

From Vadim "No, it really has to do with hydrocarbon emissions from crankcase, not from the fuel system"

No it just traps the stuff coming out back through the intake. Very minor, nothing even Al Gore would care about
