Dyno mode and 030 performance package LSD
Put my 06 CLS 55 into Dyno mode to stretch its legs. Since I have LSD I had very limited smoking of the tires. I think what is happening, is that ESP sits on top of the LSD and does double duty. When ESP is really programmed off as it is in the Dyno mode, I really get the kick of my full HP while keeping the rubber on the road, just like in the old days before all the car electronics.
With no clocks or stop watches, my unscientific feeling is that I got faster 0-60s and beyond in the Dyno mode versus non Dyno or ESP on or off.
Has anyone with the 030 performance package (LSD) experimented with this? I would like to know.
Of course with ESP off (meaning almost off, but traction control is definitely off) I can still smoke my tyres, albeit with two evenly painted rubber lines

Haven't tried in dyno-mode.
I have the CLS55 with 030 - one of the first ones to arrive in the US. I ran it almost immediately at Moroso.
you can read about my experience and see the videos here at https://mbworld.org/forums/c219/165085-amg-cls55-vs-amg-cls63-moroso-drag-strip-results-sept-29th-2006-a.html
The burnout issues had several others chiming in on the ability to do a burnout - you will see that I had very different experience in the E55 where I was able to do a stationary burnout with the ESP off, but in the CLS I had to go to DYNO mode. (Note that in my CLS55 with the ESP off and the front tires just rolling ever so slightly, I can do a continuous burnout - but with the front wheels stationary it just cuts the power even with ESP off - my E55 could sit there all day long just smoking the rear tires without ever moving an inch in ESP off mode))
As for more power in DYNO MODE, I doubt it. As for launching, you have to feather in the throttle - YOU CANNOT JUST MASH IT - let the tail sit before you start mashing it otherwise you will be sideways staring at the concrete walls. Not fun at all!
The DYNO mode disables ESP, BAS and ABS.
This is how you get into the hidden menu in the MFD.
FIRST MAKE SURE YOUR MDF SCREEN IS CURRENTLY DISPLAYING THE OUTDOOR TEMPERATURE, THEN:
1. Insert your key and turn to position 1.
2. Press the trip odometer reset button three (3) times.
3. The first screen you will see on the MFD is the battery voltage in the following format - UB: 12.0 V
4. Press the UP arrow button on the steering wheel.
5. You will now see other information such as Software Version, etc. If you turn the key to position 2 you will get a oil reading by QTS and other info will appear.
6. If you want to put the car into DYNO mode which will disable ESP and BAS, leave the key in position 1 and hit the up arrow until you see the screen that says "ESP Dynamometer Test".
7. At this screen use your + or - steering wheel button to turn this mode ON.
8. You will get some malfunctions due to ESP, BAS, etc. being off, but this is not a problem and they will go away once you disable the DYNO mode.
9. You can start you car now to DYNO it without all the electronic wizardry getting in the way.
CAUTION: DO NOT DRIVE LIKE THIS OR BAD THINGS MAY HAPPEN. ESP, BAS, ABS are desirable when driving
10. To exit out of DYNO mode, simply turn your car off then back on and it will reset to normal.

now here comes the question do i dare use it and hammer it
I believe common sense will prevail and fear of killing my rubber and the cost of new ones will sink in

great info non the less
Very dangerous to drive pedal to the metal in dyno mode.

Was it done at a mbz dealership? or did you have to bring it to a high performance shop?
