I will post th grapgh as soon as they email it .

car has 3900-4000 miles

403hp first run torque 363(at wheel)
407hp second run 362 torque(at wheel)

417 was the prior high until Tan hit 440 on his white beast.

I learned a ton about this car last night.

1. the 63 drives and dyno's differently each time you get in. It is adaptive to the core and prior to the dyno I should have asked them to reset the ecu. I sat in traffic for most of the drive.

So to achieve higher dyno or maximum which as of today we have a 440 number to the wheels which is 11-12% loss from drivetrain. My car did 407 which is 19& loss.

On paper Trez's 63 has 33 hp more. My filters were already out so thats not it. We had a great race from a stop and my car took the higher hp car by 1/2 a car. What I think happened , and this is a critical lesson. After the car was run hard on the dyno the full power was avail, Tan's car had been sitting and mine was warm, this is likely why he failed to destroy me. Drive this car HARD prior to dyno and you should get 417-440. I was initially depressed by the result but after racing around, the cars could not have been more equal. It was great hearing the exhaust note from another 63 as even with the radio full blast I could hear Tan's car pulling. We did some 60-110 blasts on the fwy and the cars really moved out . Whoever got the jump stayed in front and that remained true all night long.

Those who need a dyno, make sure you do a ecu reset, make sure you drive hard. Maybe use 93 octane or some octane booster? bad gas really screws you. Try and go on a coolish day. It was great meeting all the guys and the best part was all the BEEEEEEEEEEER, we missed Vic but I was told he could put em down. Next time Vic. I am sure we will all be down again to get our software tune and headers and pulley :-)

Let me know when we are going to the Hookah bar or when we are getting Hookah's LOL. So the dyno result was slightly better than average but 33 shy of the best 63 dyno yet.

I will do it again closer to home and do the reset and see if I can hit 425-450 WOOOOHOO. Once again thanks for the OC welcome guys. Let me know when the caravan is heading North, we have beer here too ..

CLS63 Dyno Results Analysis

These results are very interesting... I don't know what to say? Your car produced 33 hp less than Trez's 63 yet you actually beat him by 1/2 car length in a quick race??? This is another example that proves that sometimes dyno numbers don't mean anything. I actually had a similar experience almost just like this about a year ago. I have some questions/thoughts for discussion:

1) Assuming Mercedes' figure of 507 hp is correct, then 407 wheel hp means your car has almost 20% drivetrain loss.

2) If you assume the "standard" 17% drivetrain loss for these cars are correct, then at 407 wheel hp, your car would be producing 490 hp at the crank.

3) Assuming the charcoal filters removal does ADD 20 wheel horsepower, then your car produces only 387 wheel horsepower, which is in line with the low-dyno 63 mentioned on this board before???

4) If the ECU reset makes a difference of 33 hp, then shouldn't one run on the dyno have the same effect as the ECU reset since the car is driven hardest during the run? Did you have a chance to reset the ECU before the 2nd run?

5) What was temperature, altitude, humidity, SAE corrected numbers??? And do you think these conditions affected your dyno?

6) Will you try a different dyno?

I don't mean to be negative or criticize your findings, I'm actually buying an E63 soon, but I'm very worried about the dyno results controversy.

Any feedback/thoughts would greatly be appreciated.

Simon said (lol) the ecu needs to be reset in command or via software(star) he said no way the first dyno run reset the ecu. They all blamed my wife because she drives in d/c with the car fully raised. So no the first run did not
do enough, the second run was a bit better, why no third run? I think they were happy enough? Maybe they want to sell me the ecu upgrade and the small pulley ?

The more miles and the harder you drive should keep the hp at what MB claims. If you use the same figures for Tan's dyno he is either making 540 at the crank or power loss is much less to the drivetrain, like 12-15%. So my car is very close to the 507 claimed and Tan's is above it? Perhaps filter removal helps the cars that are driven harder more? I think if we did a third run the car gets into the 411-414 range and it improves each run a little.

The power band was so smooth. My car was faster after the dyno run, so in retrospect I should of left her on the dyno and did two more runs. Overall we are talking just a tad under the 507 so no biggie. Tan's car is #1 dyno so far for a 63 and my car was every bit as spry. Weird I know.

I think my car has higher drivetrain loss due to the LSD..so @ 20% I am right at 507, Tan would be making well over the 507 with his 440 to the wheel dyno, I feel more confused now than I did prior to going to Evosport....LOL

CLS63 Dyno Analysis

When you dyno your car again, try one run without charcoal filters and one run with filters. Also, don't forget to reset the ECU before every dyno run.

If your car is beating Trez's 63 while having 33 hp less, then imagine how strong it'll be with more hp.

I wouldn't buy the ECU upgrade from Evosport yet. It seems like your car keeps getting stronger, so I say wait until your car reaches its max hp numbers (probably somewhere between 415 to 425 with the charcoal filters and 425 to 440 without filters).

I think DYNO mode would solve the lsd esp potential probs? The car was not in "dyno" mode... Seems like it should be dynoed in dyno mode to prevent any potential power loss to the wheel. It is possible too that my LSD helps me on the street race albeit I am producing less hp. That would be a great selling point of LSD . AMG suggests .03 reduction in 0-60 times w/lsd based on improved traction. Thanks for the advice , I think you are on the money with your analysis.

LOL, COME ON DUDE!!!
LOL

Don't make it sound like you pulled on me. We only did one run after your dyno and I got a lot of spin and you got the jump on me. 1/2 car length and you kept it which makes sense.

I like how you forget later than night. we did at least 4 starts from the light and I had you EVERY time by 1/2 - 1 car length. WTF. I guess the beers had really gotten to your brain by then. I know Murtaza will back me up on the night runs cause he was right there trying to keep up. Those were some SICK LOUD runs. These cars are soooooo loud.

Anyway, the cars are even but it was a bad day for dyno which is why you didn't get your numbers.
