Leak
Hey all,
I haven't been around in a while, but I wanted to to cath everyone up on my power steering leak. Well I finally take it to the dealer and a day later I get a call from my SA that the gasket on the #1 valve body is leaking along with the power steering.
They never tell me what may have caused the leak but they assure me it's not a big deal and there was no damage to the car. The car drives perfectly fine I have 18,500 miles on it so it's broken in.
Now I know the SC isn't supposed to spin till WOT but I don't feel that kick I had before, don't treally know if its the miles on the car or if it had anything to do with the leak.
Now I will tell you on the highway it feels like I can't give it enough its always asking for more
to top it off I lend the car to my friend last week, and he calls me to tell me that the splash guard under the engine just fell off....freaking dealer never put it back on right, so now I have to take it back.
Would like to see what you guys think?

Hey Clos, I would post your questions in the E63/55 thread, same engine and alot more motorheads over there. I will ask you to look at you last invoice and see if you had an ecu sofware update . The other problem most 55's are having is the IC pump failing. Sounds like your car is losing power and that is one potential reason.

I mentioned that to my SA and he said he hadn't heard anything about that. I looked over the invoice yesterday and nothing about any ecu upgrade. I guess it's back to the dealer!

It will say "Air Pump Recall", that's the kiss of death. You'll need to reset your ECU and drive the car like a maniac, and she will come back to life.

I've turned in my car twice already for power steering - and I only had about 3k miles on it back then. Few months later MB sent me a questionnaire/feedback form. After expressing my dissatisfaction MB sent an extended warranty just on the power steering alone. 10yrs from the time of inception. lol
