After the drag racing an exciting event happened. Three CLS Luxury Yacht's cruising two black one white. Having a nice drive back to Los Angeles. Eventually we split up , guess what happens as soon as they leave me? In my rearview I see the dreaded eagle eyes of that dam "other " German super car, I am on the phone with SAM the other CLS driver, "uh Sam , INCOMING man, where are you" Guy is doing 110 on the 5 in his M6 new plates , custom rims, nice looking. I decide to catch him and have a go at a fwy roll. SAM says "hey man get into manual or your gonna get smoked", manual? oh jeez , I stay in d/s and use kick down he sees me coming and keeps the distance. Guess he forgot I could catch him, I did. We did one roll and it was dead even from 85-115. Then the camera fell onto the floor and under my gas pedal LOL. OH BOY, guess what it aint over, now an M5? You have gotta be sh*tn me..Dam, WHERE is my CREW. I call Sam back, "Sam uh...now and M5 is on my aSH. He laughs and ofcourse says "yeah right". Anyway I started to film but the guy just stayed on my asch and I had to get off the fwy. What an end to my track day.. I am starting to LIKE the M6. There were NONE at the track, pathetic. Here is a video of the M6. Oh the CLS does sound BETTER for sure

Nice vid! coudn't really tell what he was doing look liked he started to race you, & pulled you (but from an uneven start, like I described all other bmw encounters I've had) so then he hits the car-pool lane you slowly catch up? was that flat-out or?? anyhow thanx for sharing

He definately floored it when he lane changed as you see in the vid he gets small. I guess he was trying to lose me but I went about 80% throttle at 85mph and caught him at 110. Then he moves over we were both doing 100 plus I got next to him floored it passed him but the camera flew and went onto the floor. I stayed with him and I think he saw my race track chalk on the window and was likely a little fearful of getting beat infront of his lady. Funny how adrenaline kicks in when you see those cars. Really it is a good match cause the 63 does really well at 100-130. You gotta drive this thing. Id imagine from what I saw on the track the Z06 really moves out at 100 plus as well. He likely just drives by after 115 or so? That was really a great night tho, you gotta come out next week? Track sucks but 40 plus runs is 40 plus runs, helped me work out some track kinks. But Drag racing is a serious sport and I won't knock the drag guys ever again. Sucks to have nowhere to race on the weekend.

2 quick tips for you from reading both of your threads, when it comes to pure drag racing 100% of your attention needs to be spent on your 60ft time, the "race" starts and ends there considering traction is optimal. Get yourself some sticky tires and stop messing with feathering the damn throttle to get decent times. I also do a bit of "street racing", now this is where it changes a bit as now you are not focusing on launch because most street racing is spontaneous and almost always starts from a roll, when racing from a roll now its all about your "trap speed" this is the indicator of your HP and how well you would fair from a roll.

I dont race much on the public roads, but yes we have 2 tracks within an hour of here that are open on weekends.

Well I had to throw down the cell phone in order to capture on film. So I figured the guy was still on , I guess I was talking to self. LOL, I called you about an hour earlier to advise you of my times and Z06 kill. You would have LOVED it, you gotta get to the drag strip, you wil forget about girls, at least for a second. Nice video. I will tell you this..those M6's are no joke and they gooo..My business partner has one, and went 11.60 at 122 in the quarter mile. Once they are going its tough to catch them...He has an ecu upgrade and 100 shot.. he see's 63's and laughs...

Just came back from the Bimmer Fest in Santa Barbara this Saturday.
Do not under estimate the M5 or M6. They are just as much car as the 55's-63s, whichever model it may be.

BTW..I don't belive there is anything on the road that will out perform the V12 Bi Turbos other than Z06 (no SLR, Ferr, Lambs, etc.). Maybe there are some Porches?

This may be a start of a new thread.

Do they leave change in your pockets for beer? Or do I have to mortgage my house to buy one that can see a CLS in its rear view mirror.

The Z06 with Nav is 79K and has a really wide rear view mirror to view Porches and MBs.

Your 55 with about 3500 bucks in mods will destroy all porsches except chipped turbos and the new 997. You see the 55k keeps up with the Z06 just fine when it is 550 plus hp. Your car is easier to drive an far more comfy then either the p car or vette. You have the best of both worlds. A fast sedan that you can take out the fam in!

I NEVER said that. Its just that the Scooter is in an entirely different league. Its like lining up a Golf Cart against an F-18 hornet, you just don't do it. I'm still trying to get permits to put the scooter on the road, its been really tough and the emissions screenings are a real PITA. I tried to tow it to Englishtown but they won't let me run anything that powerful without a full roll cage.
