Cls 63 030
I noticed that 63s with their new design over the 55s have a single brake pad design vs a double on the 55s.
Can anyone confirm which car has larger area of brake pads (not rotors)?

[/IMG]WOW.
I just drove the SLR and measured the rotors and calipers, the rotors are smooth and ceramic and are smaller than the rotors on my 030 CLS.
The SLR makes my car feel like a Jetta (no offense to Jetta owners)
This car is ridiculous
It is featured on our TV show "Dirty sexy Money"

Just ignore the silly commentary and listen to this engine, what an incredible sounding ride
Daaaaaaaammmmmmm.........
You drove the SLR
You are my hero Juicee
how about the SLR 722 ?You guys need to feature one on your show, so I can come visit you and drive it
For a 0-60 of 3.6 vs 4.2 (about a 0.6 difference) you pay about $300K permimum. A vette looks good at this price-so does a 63 or 65.

The Best of Mercedes & AMG
Either way MB is kicking *** lately.

robby18: nice shots, but the (dark) anthracite grey R8 I saw had matching and lighter carbon fiber side panel: looked even sharper than that lighter color in your pix. Frankly, even being a dyed-in-the-wool Porsche owner, if I was buying another supercar now, the R8 would simply have to be in the Top 3 list!

Good for Audi!! But there is the always-hidden problem w/ Audi: their dealerships, by and large, simply don't know how to service very low volume speciality cars like the R8. Believe me, I know, as I owned and then sold my beloved RS6 exactly b/c of this reason. Shame on Audi and their arrogant and unfriendly customer service attitude even towards their highest priced car buyers.

Either way MB is kicking *** lately. This is one fine car, but why compare it to a CLS? It's completly different. Again, can't compare it to a Lambo, F or P.

....dude the thing is SICK but that money I would go a different route..insane super car though!!!The beauty of the CLS is that is looks like it has a base price of $100k+.....great car for the dough. The 030 is worth it IMO.
I drove it at the AMG challenge and another time after a party a few months back. I didn't love it.
It's HOT as hell when it comes to looks. But drivability sucks. The front is waaay too long for a race car so you can never stick your corners. And it makes a very uncomfortable MB.
And everyone was talking about the brakes being amazing. And they were. But not THAT much better than the 030 brakes IMO.
It's a hell of a car. But just not that much fun to drive.

Sorry Trez, I'm going to have to disagree with you on this one. I too drove the SLR, and since it is my dream car, my opinion maybe biased
, but I seriously think the SLR is one of the most fun supercars to drive. On Top Gear, the driver said that the SLR was the stickiest car on the track among all the cars he has driven. It handles turns and corners very well and hugs the road even better.I do agree with you about the brakes though. The CLS 030 brakes are a lot closer to the SLR brakes than the normal AMG ones.
