I've been browsing and searching for information on CLS55s. Before I purchased my SL55, I had a CLS63 on order, but I pulled it and decided to get another 55, and mod it....again. Well, now I'm seriously considering getting the new Nissan GTR and trading the SL in for a 2006 CLS55. Therefore I can just transfer all the mods on the SL right onto the CLS.

Anyway, I came across this. It's a gorgeous CLS55 with nice wheels and lip spoiler. Don't like the blacked out lights in the rear. I was really confused. I mean, why would anyone do this? I'm utterly shocked. I really don't get it. Maybe he wanted to be up to date with the AMG models? But, why put on 63 badges when you have a 55??? Idk what else to say, just wanted to share it. Everyone please chime in.....

Maybe the original owner was a poser/poseur? The dealership might not have any idea, and since you're legitimately looking (instead of a being a rock thrower) it wouldn't be off base to ask, "Why are there 63 badges on a 55 car".

That car's hot. White hot, on a black car no less. I like everything done to it, with the exception of the badging, and like how the tail lights disappear into the rear end. Straight up murdered. It'd be a nice score...

Ihis is strange indeed...I guess the new 63 badge just seems more expensive then the good old 55.....just two numbers away from the almighty 65....lol

 

If he would have just pasted a 6 over the 5, CLS65 it would be a find of a lifetime.

That's Miami for you! People are never satisified with what they have. I got alot of **** for putting the AMG badge on my e320 sport at the same time I remember seeing several e320 that magically turned in to E55.

I guess a 96K doesn't impress enough?

Yep, the dealer had to rebadge my car when I got it. It's a CLS500 but had CLS550 on the car. I told them BEFORE you deliver the car, take that off, and put the 500 back on. I don't understand all of this fake badging, because ANY CLS you got is hot. 500, 550, 55, or 63 who cares, get one and live the CLS experience. Like none other.

Really that isn't too suprising. Anyone who gets a Mercedes and 'blacks out' their lights, throws a body kit on, and puts aftermarket rims on... I mean what do you expect?

And props to telling the dealer to put back the 500 badge!

 

Alright so I bought this car from The Garage in Miami last Friday. I had them replace the badging with the original 55 and have put stock tail lights back in it. They were more than happy to do so at no additional charge. Great dealer to deal with They are for sale if anyone wants them....

This badging mess needs to be stopped. I mean really, any CLS as I mentioned is hot. They all are graceful and powerful classy cars. I wonder if the guy that bought the car knows it is a 55 not a 63. I would make it a bargaining point and take that FAKE %$@! off of the car.

I thought the 55's had more torque and were faster than the 63's though??

Anyways, I enjoy my CLS500. Black on black with AMG, what more could you ask for?
