CLS 55
![Question](https://mbworld.org/forums/images/icons/icon5.gif)
Greetings,
I saw the recent thread on radar detectors with many championing the K40.
Well, the CLS55 that i bought has the K40 2000 with laser difusers non-bluetooth version already installed. (i don't know where it was installed but could try to find out from the M-B dealer.) i find that they have so many false alarms to make using it almost worthless. it has never failed to pick up radar but there must be 100 false alerts for every real one. it is chirping almost all the time! i keep it in city mode even on the highway with still very frequent false alerts and have to turn it off completely in the city. i have called K40 and they say my unit has the same detectability as the current calibre version but doesnt have the installation ease of this blue tooth version.
i have had older escorts and bels that never falsed like this.
any advice would be appreciated!

take it to you local dealer (K-40) and pay them to diagnose the problem, turn it off and get an older bell/escort (I can imagine what a more sensitive unit would be doing
) take some photos of the whole install and post them here...
good luck

I have the same unit and I get false alarms all the time as well... I guess it's a common issue....I Find myself turning it off sometimes while city driving as well.

BTW.. Don't speed on city streets--reserve it for the highways and be responsible racers.

Drove me crazy
Had K-40 {hidden installation} in my M5......
So many false alarms that I turned it off and never used it again ....
Couldn't stand the alarm going off all over the place ...
Won't buy a K-40 again!![nix](https://mbworld.org/forums/images/smilies/nixweiss.gif)

What I meant is that if you have a need for speed it is safer on the highway due to the nature of it construction with no cross traffic or pedestrians. How can anyone disagree?
