First Service....

OK, I know this has been posted before but I am working my a$$ OFF 200 like hours in less than 3 weeks.

My car turned 2 years old on the 13th and says I need the 1st service. It has less than 10,000 miles. What does it entail and do I have to go to the dealership? There is a non-authorized MB shop much closer (not the longer drive to Greensboro). Can I have it done there?

Thank you in advance.

I cant answer what the service entails, but as far as not taking it to the dealer, I would steer clear of them. I had a friend that worked service at MB and Land Rover, he told me it is basically a glorified oil change, yes they check normal operation, etc, but who cares, your car is still under warranty why spend the extra 2-300 on an oil change. Dealerships are a ripoff and I refuse to spend my hard earned money for them to jack their rates, once they start to be on par with other service places, I will start taking my car there. Find a good MB service center, get to know them and stick with them> Buy the parts off the web if you have to and take it to them(oil filter, etc).

Hes right

Any reputable shop with Mercedes exprerience can do it. The only reason to take it to the dealer is because of recalls. There is almost always a software update. I take it to a guy that used to work at the dealer then went on his own. Stand up guy and great service for half the cost of the dealer.

I'm on 22k miles and he has done all my service, I have only taken the car to the dealer once.
