I was present as well with my tiny C32, and I must say the car is fabulous. If it works, christ almighty what a future for ASR.

Biggest question I have is the 7speed.

On our 5's, when you pass the torque limit, it's limp mode time.

Can't wait to see what the 7speed will handle. You guys gotta be right at the limits if not over. Curious to see if it's limp city.

Good luck!!

UPDATE!

Just an update guys, ASR finished the car tonight around 10pm. We ran about 10 passes, first on a 75 shot - car pulled incredibly, timing was good, no issues. Upped the NOS to around 125, car was rediculous! Still running safe, timing good, fuel good - finally a 150. Car pulls like a freight train, and pulls harder the faster we went. Also the last few passes were on low bottle pressure and without the bottle warmer, so the bottles were cold at the time.

Basically everything tested out perfectly on the street. We have it set to start spraying at 2000 rpm, so launches aren't too bad, but it spins completely through first and into second, but very tame for the amount of HP and torque. Rolling in 1st gear, the car loses traction through second, but still pulls very hard...Overall it ran great, and Abid says it may be able to hold a 200 shot judging by how well the numbers look on the 150. The tranny seems to shift through the gears just like off the NOS, very smooth, so we'll see how it holds up over the next week. So far so good...

This week we'll get it on the dyno, and on Thursday at the track...I'm expecting to see mid to high 11's depending on traction, but initial testing is very good, and the car seems to pull comparably to my 997TT, which should be running low 11's.

Wow sounds like an incredible feeling.

when you get your new tires make sure you do several burn outs, scuff em up etc.. You need them to have a little wear. Man I am very excited and I want you to know the traction issue may screw you. If you cannot hook up that ET is going to suffer. Remember there is a solution and you are just testing. We would like to see some mid 120's trap speeds regardless of ET, hitting 130 that would open some eyes, but even 125 would be incredible. I think you ran a 12.7 stock? or was it 12.9? I forget but remember you were not thrilled. Please review and do not be afraid to ask your fellow dragsters for help. Did you get the set of tires yet?

Wow this is amazing.

Thanks man, I got the wheels on Friday! question, why are you switching them? Did they work alright for you? I also have a few sets of brand new 305-35-18 nitto nt555's, do you think they would be better than the 275's?

I tested it out some more today just to empty the bottle, so we can freeze it and fill it this week, again pulls very hard! No issues whatsoever. Tranny is smooth, can't wait to put it on the track this week.

When we do private track rentals we basically have the track to ourselves, so there's plenty of time to test different methods, launches, nitrous progression, all that. Last time we did this I ran the CLS 37 times. Best pass was 12.89 @ 111, but that's with 20's and all sorts of crap in the trunk, really no preparation at all. So hopefully on motor with slicks and the car emptied out maybe I can do 12.60's and mid 11's on NOS, I'd be happy with that and it seems pretty realistic.

Jordan ,

I am very excited for you and have high hopes for this set up.

On the tire issue ... Those 18" Nitto's are great if the track is well prepped.
the 60 ft times in the CLS are difficult to achieve. My 12.1 was on a 1.91 60ft , which was not close to my best but it was great weather so the car made great power.

I spent 4k on the Renntech rims and the Pilot sport cups work just as well as the nittos. I just roll to the track on the same set I use on the street.

I recently customed a 17" C class rim to fit a real slick 17x11.50, which is slightly wider than my 305 and is 1000x more sticky. If you cannot hook you will need to copy this tire set , this will allow your car to hook even on a crappy track .

My times are not "faster" but I no longer waste runs due to traction loss. My cups are the faster tire (trap speed) but at night on a cool track say buh bye to traction annd yes even the fat CLS spun like a top. a 1080, was fun LOL.

Try the Nitto's get them hot and remember to ease into it a rolling start , practice very very lightly holding the car with the brake , do not mash that brake pedal. Rev up max 1100 if you want, I can do off idle or to 1100-1200 but after that the car gets fooled. Im glad to have you running your car so perhaps yopu can achieve a method that can replicate the 1.70-1.84 60 ft times our E55/E63 brothers achieve.

Just be careful and remember to let off if the carfeels unstable or even a slight movement of the rear , you have the track to ourself so just get out of the run.

This is a great project, good luck and hopefully we can get that car running similar to a stage 5 E55. 11.40's@123-125

I ceratinly look forward to Thursday. I will have my drag radials and hope to see low to mid 11's. Remember, my best run was 11.83@121. That was before all of the "rich" issues. I think Abid fixed those. In other words the car was running so rich that it lost power at the top and was only running 10LBS of boost. Now she is at 14LBS back where it should be.

It will be great to have you there, I hope you guys get some coolish weather as I know it obviously is HOT there 365 24/7.

Please film the 63 vs 55 after Jordan gets the hang of it

I hope to see both of you guys raising the bar for the CLS

Wow! I was going to say, what kind of stock CLS takes off that fast? Did you spray off the hole?

amazing shots. Man how long before the smoke cleared and did you measure any times ?? seems to me the car is shifting way to early out of 1st likely ESP shifting the car into 2nd due to wheel hop, spin. Also dont let the car shift on yer burn out keep it in M1 and try and steady the throttle to 4500.

Incredible footage, car sounds , looks and moves out nicely!

HE is awesome! thanks for asking, no rides yet he's only 7 weeks old...But he already got a taste of boost while in the womb, a few pounds in the 997 just to get him warmed up. He'll be riding in the baby seat on the track this Thursday, you think the track dudes will be cool with that?

Thanks man, you're right about first gear - I have it in dyno mode, but it does seem to shift fast into second. I'll try different methods at the track, i haven't sprayed it since Saturday and I don't plan too until then. Tomorrow I'm taking the bottles out to get filled and frozen until track day.

It's set to start spraying at 2000rpm right now, so you can hear when it starts to spray, right after the first chirp of the tires. I'll spray it off the hole at the track Thursday with slicks.

Wow it should stay in first till at least 6800, maybe your car is just getting there quicker than I am used to , LOL.

Hey let me know if you find a helmet for the tank

Good luck sinking that mighty CLS 55

I'd probably delay the spray closer to 3000 rpm if you're losing that much traction already

Your car looks, sounds, and performs amazing I can't wait for the track numbers

Slicks will solve that problem.
