Designo black/Obsidian black on Cls63
Hello~ I just placed an order for the 09 cls63 amg and just wanted to ask you guys a quick question. I have mentioned this topic in an another thread, but did not get too much feedbacks. I pretty much loaded up the car with all the options including the 030 package and carbon fiber trim with black interior and obsidian black paint. According to the dealer, I still have one more day to change any specs, so I was debating on whether I should go for the designo platinum black color. Has anyone seen this color on cls? If so, is it worth $2200? I saw a sample paint block of it and was not really able to tell a significant difference. Please let me know what you members think. Thank you very much for your thoughts~

The platinum black color is really amazing, it is like a metallic black, but the metallic flakes are even more intense (probably how they get the platinum name). Honestly though, I would get the whole designo platinum black package, the interior is beyond anything you can imagine.

Hey, thanks for replying. So u have actually seen the color? I have heard that it has like different shades other than black in it. Is this true? I am assuming that it is actually better than obsidian black according to u right? It is interesting how u mentioned the interior because I too loved the interior color, but unfortunately only the paint was available for any AMG's when I ordered it. Thanks~

The designo paint sets your car apart from the rest. The paint is one of a kind. It is super thick, deep rich luster and the interior paino black lacquer insert panels are rich looking.
Get the wheel and rim insurance especially with the 030 custom rims. They do get curb rash and need to be buffed out from time to time.

Go for the Designo Black. My CLS is Obsidian Black Metallic and although it is different, as people have mentioned before, it often tends to look dirty under direct sunlight. Even if the car is clean.
