Arrow CLS63 530HP with Kleemann upgrade...

I got a quote from a local performance shop for a Kleemann ECU upgrade...here is what was offered:

1) HP +23 to 530
2) Torque +20 to 485
3) Sharper throttle response
3) Cost = $1,000

What do you guys think? Worth it? It seems so to me...Renntech offers same for $3,500!!!

Your input...

Ask for some Dyno sheets before you drop a grand. For the price that seems pretty damn good. I would give Cory over at Kleemann a call to make sure that this is legit. Also get in touch with the VRP guys and see what they are offering for pricing in terms of the VRP530 package.

Sounds almost too good to be true. Does this shop do any work on the CLS 55? Let me know how things turn out. Where are you located in NC? I'm in MD and would drive down for to this shop for this price.

From doing my research earlier in the year, an ECU upgrade by Kleeman only runs roughly 1k and gives you ONLY 10-12 Hp & lb/ft. Renntech ECU runs around 3,500 and increases 30 hp & 30 ft/lb.

Renntech is more expensive because they guarantee the power output unlike Kleemann(they give you a range). MB stands by Renntech mods and thus is not suppose to void any MB warranty. They also suggest that if you get an ecu upgrade to also get a larger crankshaft pulley. This will increase your total HP by roughly 45hp & 50lb/ft. That pkg runs I believe around 5k

I don't think an ecu upgrade is necessary and worth it unless you do a pkg 1 or pkg 2 upgrade(60 hp& 70lb/ft).

I'm actually going with a Renntech Pkg 1, sport mufflers, camber bushing/toe links, LSD. Renntech is expensive but you get what you pay for and they are also stateside. IMHO. GL

MB does not always stand by Renntech my friend. There are people here on the board who have had a not so great experience with Renntech either. Kleemann certainly stands by their product 110% my friend. While Renntech does have some great products, their prices do not justify the power increase, which can be had for much lower prices and the same quality level.

I suggest to the OP that he call Vadim and Cory to see what the real gains are to be had from the CLS63.

This is simply not true. Mercedes can potentially void your warranty for any aftermarket engine "upgrade", so if your engine blows, you're pretty much on your own. I'm surprised that people would risk their warranty for measly 10-20hp that you won't even feel

+1.

Most often, not always, an ECU only upgrade is seldom detected by MB. This is not 100%. Pullies, Air boxes, headers, etc are easily detected and are a give away to MB that they don't have to honor the factory warranty.

The guys that badge the modders name on the trunk are just advertising to void the warranty.

Wait 4 years and 50K miles then puchase an aftermarket warranty and the odds are in you favor that the engine upgrades will not void the extended warranty.

I'm still trying to verify all the info I received while researching into which mods to go with. If I was mis-informed and my warranty assertion is wrong, I stand corrected. The information was after speaking to someone at Renntech and two boutique shops in my area. Renntech also told me that their are some North American MB dealerships that are actual Renntech independent installers. I don't know, I was mearly trying to pass on information which I was given! Everybody and their mother seems to have an opinion on this subject. It's hard to believe who is legit and who isn't. I guess the OP can only get real answers from Vadim or Cory. Everyone else I've spoken to aparantly LIED! Good night my friend.

There are a few mod friendly dealers around who will sell Renntech parts along with those of others. I know MBLN here was selling some cars with Lorinser/Renntech/ and some others off the showroom floor. But I would trust Cory and Vadim moreso than the rip off that Renntech is.

Did you check under the hood? MBBH, FJMB and KeysMB sell only the body kits due to the warranty issues as they described to me. It they did the engine mods on their dealer invoice/ticket, most of us would jump at the opportunity.

HP gains likely will be less.

But for 1k , heck just get a 30 day money back guarantee.

Go 4 it .

Your best MOD on a CLS is weight loss. Trim her down 2-300 pounds and she will pounce on that M6 buddy of yours

If you're going to void your warranty, you might as well go all out. Get the ASR nitrous kit and that M6 is toast
