Just installed... 12" JL W-3 sub.

My stock rear sub went out a while back, so I decided to step up a notch and installed this over the weekend... the only thing I need to do is replacing the front dash speaker...
I try to keep this set up clean and simple...

My buddy at Al & Eds HB build the box for me to fit the CLS... I will have all the detail specs tomorrow.. I left the detail info at my office today...
If anyone knows how to remove the rear stock sub, please let me know... I was going to take apart the back seat today, but got lazy... if anyone knows the fastest way to do it, please share...

thanks.

I go through different set up every so often.. one minute I want bass, and the next minute I want louder exhaust... haha.. tought life decisions... haha.

I have a VERY similar setup in my CLS. My box looks exactly the same as yours (slot port on side and rectangular shape) but I have a 10'' W3V3. It sounds good but not quite as loud as I was expecting.

Yeah the specs on the box should be similar. We follow JL audio specs to build the box and ported at the correct dimensions. the 12" is extremely loud, I didnt have time to take everything apart and dyno mat the lower trunk, probably next weekend project after Sema. I am thinking of trying the 10" for tighter bass.

I guess loud is subjective also.. I used to be much bigger into stereos but I just wanted to add some bass to round out the system this time and I think it does that very well. I was kinda surprised at how much the CLS rattles when you turn the bass up though...

I am trying to remove the rear stock sub to make a port so air and bass will move into the cabin.

There is some rattling and you do need a little more power/sub due to the insulation of the trunk. I had this same setup (10'' W3) in my previous Mustang cobra and it was a ton louder in the cobra.

Box looks great. Nice and Clean.

I took out my rear sub. Here is what you must do. You need to remove the two rear head rest ( pain in the butt), and the two side panels that run up to the headliner ( where the seat belt is attached), then pull up on the black rear dash. You will see the rear sub under it. Disconnect the wires then unscrew the bolts that hold it down. My installer and I did this together, and it took 5 hours because we had no idea of what we were doing, lol.

If I were you I would ask Mercedes to remove the rear headrest for you. I think they have a special tool for doing it. I got so frustrated with those things that I had to take a walk, but when I returned my installer got them out. It was just as hard putting those things back on.

Good luck
