Tailight swap to the 09, is it possible?

I was wondering if anyone here has installed, or tried to update the tailights on a 2007 63 to the 2009 style? Is it a direct plug and play?

apprently i was told recently it is and is a direct swap.
you need the part numbers of both left and right tail lights.

I have not seen it done, only going by recent word of mouth that electroincly nothing stopping it to work. I would go with a test fit and if it works buy deAl

other option would be to find any crashed 09 cls and get the lights off it

They will not work. There is somethng extra that needs to be done to get them to work. They system will not recognize the leds. I want to do this mod also.

Most likely a replacement of the rear SAM module will be required.

I've seen many guys use resistor to fool the computer when they convert to led, would'nt that work in this case as well?

The main concern is the dimensions, Other than that it should be fine. As for the L.E.D.s, they use less power so it shouldn't be a problem. And a resistor should fix it if there is.

I have an e60 530i bmw currently on here because i will own a cls55 in a few weeks... basically what you want to do requires a certain splitter or a plug morelike a resistor dont know exactly what it is but the BMW guys are doing it to convert to the new 09 5 series tails which are led's .. someguy created the splitter dont know if he makes them for the merc.. but im sure if contacted he may.. its $ for him.. this can be found on e60.net

im being lazy and dont feel like searching but i know it can be done with that thing that the BMW guys are using to accomplish the 08/ 09 rear tails installed with no error codes.. hope this helps..

Exclamation AMG private lounge response

This question was on the private lounge for 55 to 63 swap.
I'll ask them what's involved for an 07 to change over to LED lights.

"With the facelift from CLS 55 to the CLS 63, not only were the LED's changed, but also some technical components. Due to this fact, it is not possible to use the CLS 63 AMG tail lights for the CLS 55 AMG.

Best regards,
AMG Private Lounge Team"

I have also another full rear 2009 edition cable set that the MBService tried to replace.. don't remember how much ..I paid on a forfait basis

WORTHLESS ...still as it was here https://mbworld.org/forums/2980956-post18.html

but today begun playing again a
went with man to the show room for checking the positioning and how each lamp works in the new tail light ... interesting that the two rows of leds magnify when pressing the stop
.. he worked on it all day , he said me its more difficult than expected.. till this evening side light, turn light and fog were already working.

Stop lights are more difficult .. but I'm confident

thanks in any case .. don't need anymore

I had to check how those two rows of leds acting both as city lights and as stop lights, work in a new car.
...because there were 4 leds on bottom row that lighted on only with Stop pedal pressed but they didn't with lights on simply.

......... new thread to come

I have a MY08 CLS550 it has the LED on top but smaller quantity ... pretty happy with it; not much different considering the costs.

BUT I am changing my sideview blinkers to the new 09 + POWER FOLDING option thanks to MBENZNL.

PM / email Steve / Wanda if you want it done price is pretty reasonable.
