You should round up your prices, instead of rounding down.

That last E63 sold for $45,750. Add on auction closing costs, dealer transportation fee, and you're looking at approximately $46,500.

Same with the other E63, it sold for $41,250.

And of course, no dealer would sell a car at break even prices. Add on anywhere from $500-$5,000000,000000000000000 for their time and effort and that's a more realistic price.

yeah good point.. auction prices shouldnt be a target to check prices... it should be more or less the avarage sale value of a car... my friend has a dealer in NJ i have his manheim access and i look at this too.. i actually just logged in yesterday and saw the same results u just posted because im in Ft lauderdale... but the reallity is that yes prices have dropped but dealers are not Non- profit organizations like mentioned mark up will be anywhere from 500 to 4-5k.. so the #'s you just posted really dont apply to most unless you own a dealer or have a very close friend that will sell you a car at break even price like me... but good observation... i havent purchased my car as of yet i think im going to wait till march or so to see if the 63's drop to hight 30's with mid 20k miles...

BMW 530 - Looking for a CLS55
Hmm..I'm working with a dealer on a 06 CLS55 Silver/Blk with 30k miles on it. I thought 47.5k for the car was a decent deal...but looking @ this...I'm not sure if I should take the plunge....

Arrrggghh.......

If a Dealer is selling at only $500 mark up there is something wrong with the car.. or they are going out of business. You can't look at these auction prices as a buying marker. Once you see the cars at the auction they may need tires, brake, detail, paint work, touch up, oil change, safty, advertising, pictures, insurance, phone calls, staff commision for sales person, etc. and that's just for starters. You pay for what you get, perfect car high price, rough car lower price. with new brakes, tires and all high price.. i hope this helps

My understanding was that the piano wood only came on the Designo Graphite cars that year.

Unless you buy through the broker and skip the dealer retail add-on

As long as you ascertain no serious issues, almost any other minor maintenance items to be addressed are swamped by the savings to be had by avoiding retail. Target paying between the avg and high price at auction to improve chances of getting a clean vehicle

It's really not a debate, the majority of the cars at the auction will be at a bargain price and of course may require some conditioning. Getting it inspected etc, will give you a more "exact cost" and you go from there. I still don't knock the Manhiem auction, deals are to be had on a daily operation there. Especially now.

Where are you finding the info about the keyless go black on black and etc? I look at the Post-Sale Results and i dont see such info...just Miles, Color and the Car and how much it sold for.

Also, is there a way of seeing this info in the pre-sale? Becuase in the pre-sale invetory i dont see any info OR pictures... Thanks for your help

Whats a auction closeing cost? Arent all these prices included? I was under the impression once you buy a car for lets say 47k on Manhiem you just pay your tax+licence and a fee..maybe thats just me?

i bought a jetta from my mechanic who went to auctions and sold 2-3 cars a month on the side. it was a great car, only issue was a water pump in 70k miles.

when you go to auctions are you allowed to inspect the car before bidding? or do they give you a list of what needs fixing or what?

I bought an '05 Lexus RX330 at manheim orlando with 47k miles for my daughter for this Xmas for $17.3k. With broker fee and transport, $18.2k. Retail seems to be about $25k.
Folks on the clublexus forum were skeptical, but it can be done.

Exactly. Forget the skeptics, do your research and you can do it. That was a good buy on the RX.

Some people really have me laughing about this attitude of you can't do this, and it's impossible, and if you got it at a deal it's junk. The deals are there and not just at the auction on solid cars. This is a buyer's market and we have more control than most think.

A better attitude: Difficult takes me a day. Impossible takes me a week.

Who doesn't know someone that can buy from Manheim? It has become a guide for private party value. Look up 08 Z06's. They are almost down to 50% of sticker in just a year.

List your area, perhaps someone will pm you. Usually they charge 500-1500 to take you to the auction or pick something up for you.

Very good point. It kind of dilutes the perceived market value of the car. I can not imagine how foolish I'd look walking into a dealer and quoting auction prices! lol

I can hear them now "so why didn't you buy it at the auction!" lol
