I saw a 2009 on the street for the first time yesterday and the rear turn signal arrows were red instead of yellow? US - Red arrows, Europe - Yellow arrows?

AFAIK this has always been the main difference between Euro and US specs
+ the side marker we don't have.

.. if the turn is red, it should be red in older models, too !

this is the reason why I asked to know what's the part # for you
.. all parts are produced in europe.

The turn signals are yellow on my 2007. All the pics I have seen for the '09 arrows are yellow, so I was kind of surprised. I just had to follow him on the freeway until he turned and braked so I could see them all.

I have the 2008 CLS which has LED on the top. Would the swap work or do I still need to add resistors (how much resistance) or swap the SAM module?

BTW how much is a new SAM

I wrote here
http://https://mbworld.org/forums/3221278-post13.html

how many parts I had to buy and try at the dealership .. even more cables than showed.
For your model the problem is the same ... I save you this money.
As you can see I finally got the technician able to do it .. if interested you can have your bolt on new original tail lights and condition is fair.

Marcopolo, .. looking for a secret switch to be turned on-off ? .. still to walk for long

should be like that, I 'd have said it.
After one month trials at the dealership, this last guys worked on it one week

sorry .. I wasn't there all the time and when it was finally finished I didn't dare ask to make a DIY

btw, where you from .. maybe close to me enough ?

Dyno,

I am in the USA but originally from the Netherlands (the country with the better football players ).

I know exactly what the problem is, but since I am not an electrical engineer, I need to know whether I just need a load resistors to trick the SAM or also relays.

I am both dumb and lazy so that is why I ask.

CLS
Hello everybody, my first post here... I'm own one of these beautiful CLS that would look even better with the new tail lights

@ dyno

excelent job!!!

Just to make sure, that I understood you right:
There are two ways to get to new LED tail lights working on models produced before 03/2008

1. Install your modification, but NO new cabels (wire harness) , NO new SAM... you hopefully sell that modification to us...
Parts needed: LED tail lights 2x, your modification 2x
2. Install new wire harness, install new SAM... = cost much higher because of SAM, very time consuming to install because of new cabels
Parts needed: Wire harness 2x, SAM 2x, LED tail lights 2x

Question:
Is there a difference when retrofitting a model produced before 06/2006 (little facelift) or after 06/2006?

Thanks,
Tom

first thing, I can't answer you tech question cause i m not the technician.
on my direct experience I can say that way 2 does NOT work.

as I wrote in an earlier post, I agreed with him, should anybody of you had an interest, to supply both lights ready prepared to be only plugged to the original car socket at 3x the price of 1 light.

you should send them to me ..maybe it s less convenient as if you had not already bought them bacause you ll have to pay two times the postage
.. in any case it s better than have them sitting

https://mbworld.org/forums/3012121-post21.html

next weel will arrive
.. my audio installer is a bit angry because I told him that maybe it will be necessary toadapt the resonance box construction to this new thing ...

I didn't explain correctly: no prob to find the original part, obviously !
I meant that I couldn't find an aftermarket part with exactly the same look as the original one.

ps: your link shows the brushed steel version but I don't like it .. I think that finish is more for a GL version or maybe an SLK, but not for CLS

ps:
.. I see that in the new SL there is no more the Blue light. it is WHITE.
do you know if it is the same also for SL63 AMG ?

thanks,
but about LEDs there s nothing more to do
I have only a plan for trying to install led lamps on front lights (we call it city light, don't know how in english ..)

to say the truth there is also another small toy that I already bought time ago
.. but I feel a bit of shame to ask my installer to do this childish thing
further , I would like it installed into the fog lights
like this

.. and I know it is quite impossible to have both the fog light working and this strobo thing inside

Must finish now the Audio install !
