CLS55 Prewired for Phone/Bluetooth Puck???
I wanted to purchase a Bluetooth puck for my CLS55 so I recently took my car to the MB dealer to see what is required to get Bluetooth working.
They told me that my car was not prewired for a telephone and that I'd have to spend about $800 just for the wiring.
I was told by someone else that my car was prewired. There are wires running where the bluetooth puck is supposed to sit but there's no cradle there. Can anyone look at these pictures and tell me if MB was telling me the truth about my car not being prewired? When I remove the little plastic cover there's a wire running across the opening. I'm wondering if that's the wire for the telephone.

From your pics yes it is NOT prewired for the bluetooth puck. It is wired to handle the interface. Whoever told you that probably just saw the control on the steering wheel and thought it was prewired for the puck. Kevin has a great tutorial on his install...

One of the reasons his kit is cheaper than the dealers is that it leaves out the linear compensator... that part is only needed if you plan to install a cradle puck to dock / charge your phone, however, this method also uses the car's antenna for increased signal strength.
But if you are going bluetooth puck like most of us, then you are still running the call through your phone's antenna and don't utilize that extra part which can save you some dough. Afterall, any way you look at it, it is an expensive bluetooth upgrade, but sounds great IMHO.
