Any common problems on 63's yet?
Looking at picking up an 07 63 soon, and just wondering if anyone has ran into or know of any common problems w/ these cars? I'm not worried about labor since I work in a shop that pretty much works on performance cars and installs tubro's/sc's and such, but I know the parts are $$$$$.
Any major difference between the 07 and the 08? I'd love to pick up the 09 but it's a bit too much out of my price range. Any advantages of the 08 appose to the 07? Even if I get an 07 I'll probably end up upgrading the nav, the steering wheel, mirrors and taillights to the 09's, but just wanted to know any major changes that you cant really swap out.
Thanks, looking forward to being part of the CLS community very soon.... I hope. Either that or I'll end up with M6 for a few months before I officially hop into a CLS.

A few get leaking intake manifold gaskets, usually throw engine codes or some rough running cold. Some burn a bit more oil than others, but nothing much to worry about considering what it is. Otherwise nothing particularly common yet.

Run a search here. The 63 is a very bulletproof engine, and it has been on the market 4+ years now. Any "common issues" that exist would have surfaced by this point.
BTW there's a HUUUGE difference between a performance shop that installs turbos & SCs and a Mercedes shop. These cars are unique animals, and Merc factory trained techs can spin a wrench in circles around the best tuner mechanics on THESE cars. There are some specialized aspects I wouldn't want a perf. shop mechanic doing even for free.

Thanks guys...
Any big differences between an 07 and 08 that are worth looking into? Would the $6-10K difference be worth it?
It's either I'm going to take over an M6 lease for a few months, or hop into a CLS63 next week so I want to make my decision soon.

Being in So Cal too, where can I find "techs can spin a wrench in circles.."?

E55 then E63, now back to an E55
No real difference between 07-08...
Burns a bit of oil, engine pings if you don't put in 93+ octane, but most importantly...
Brake rotors are expensive !!
(close to $1000/each)

The big change was the 09 model. Throttle blips, led lights, more standard features etc.
The MCT transmission is the deal changer, drive a car with it and you wont look back.

your right, I just reread AMG's site. Speedshift Plus includes throttle blips which was my original point.

I've had a lease since Dec06 nearly problem free. The car has held up very well. For some reason my AMG floor mats have gotten very worn and the buttons fell out of them. But if I even have to reach this far to find a problem that alone should tell you something.
