2006 Granite Grey CLS55
I don't think I'm ever driving my 55 in the snow, if the car hardly holds traction when it's dry out... I can't even imagine the snow.
Hop in your GL450 and leave the 63 in the garage.

Ya I have some conti winter sports it's good for when you still want to drive the machine in cold weather. The only prob I had was I wanted to drive like it's summer but I never got stuck or had any problems going up any hills with a few cm of that white stuff. And ya I down sized to 245/45/18 all four.

I have the Dunlop Winter Sport M3 for my E55 and its pretty much useless unless the surface is flat. My driveway has a slope and getting the car in and out of the garage had not been easy. You'll be better off driving a 4WD vehicle with either all-season tires or snow tires on them (No summer tires!!)

I've found out the same thing with my E55. I bought it this year during nicer weather, now we're under the first big snowfall of the year. I've got new Hankook W300's (245 front / 275 rear) on the stock 18" monoblocks. I had a hard time getting up my short, but slightly inclined driveway. I fear the rears are just too wide to get grip. The traction control light was strobing while advancing from a stop. At least the car has the 2nd-gear winter start feature, but even still, it crawls away from the line.
Currently looking at other winter options.

Thanks. Went with the dunlop sp winter sport 3d but kept the original wheels. After a couple of snow storms in the north east it is impossible to find any other models & beggars cant be choosy.

CLS 63 Snow Tires
Coneey,
Curious - did you find that the dunlops on the original wheels still worked ok in the wheel wells? No rubbing during turns given the higher sidewalls on the dunlops? Thanks.

I went with 265/35 Blizzak Lm22's all around, they are a little fatter in the front but they work well. Got them on clearance from the tirerack too, incredible deal for them and they fit on the stock 19's for the CLS63.
