I have a clk500 and i was considering painting my wood trim piano black like you have.

How did the paint come out? are there many flaws?

My paint shop said they can do it but it may crack or chip easily i you drop keys accidently or just touch the paint too much.

Let me know if its a worthwhile mod. .they want $450to remove/install and paint.

How much did you pay?

So I dropped my car off for service on Wednesday (Dec. 9th).

Problems reported:
SC issue
Front driver side shock making noise
Belt squealing and pulley knocking
Keyless-Go on driver side not working
Headlight Low-Beams sometimes don't work
Dynamic Seats turn off sometimes.

So they called me back on Friday saying:

SC issue is supposedly resolved - they replaced some type of water pump, not sure which he told me but I'm sure it wasn't the SC pump that I replaced (MC30) because they would have said something about that.

Belts and pulleys replaced (they said I have to pay for the belt, my warranty states that belts are covered).

Didn't say anything about the front shock making noise

They said they have to run diagnostic tests for the keyless go, headlights and dynamic seats... and that if it's something the warranty doesn't cover, then I have to pay the diagnostic fee which is 5 hrs at $122 per hour. WTF.

I believe my warranty covers all diagnostics and **** related to the problems. I'll type it up when I have the warranty paper in hand.

the warranty will only cover the diagnosis and troubleshooting fees if the item that is at fault is covered. Keyless go handles most likely will not be covered as they are considered exterior body trim.

Well they haven't called me since Friday, and I called yesterday to speak to my service advisor/tech and his secretary said he'd call me back, never did. I'm honestly thinking its a good thing because the 5 hours they should have used to diagnose the problem should have been done already, and if I was being charged, they would have been calling me in a heartbeat so I guess... I'm good? I'll find out whats going on today.

CLS55 plus a few Ducati's
I feel sorry for all the troubles you are having with your car. Hopefully you get it sorted but in future it may pay to spend a bit more time prior to the purchase, going over it.
Good luck.

Well...Igor knew this along before the purchase, he was warned by most of us by since he know cars well enough that he can eventually resolve the issues himself. Good Luck anyhow.

Nice Thread.

BTW check your PSI to be sure that's not the reason your car is pulling to the right.

I made the assumption I needed an alignment when the whole time the reason my car was pulling to the right was that the tire had low PSI and you cant even tell visually that its under-inflated, eventually got a cracked RIM and lesson learned.

Yeah I made sure all the tire pressure is fine.

So it's been 9 days and my car is still in service. I went there on Wednesday to pick up a few things from my car, and my service adviser who's taking care of me he basically got over $5K in warranty work approved... so my first visit already paid the warranty off...

They told me the car would be ready Thursday... It's Friday, and no call from the dealer... lol I hope they're just fixing it and not dicking around, I actually don't mind driving the loaner (GLK350) and putting miles on it.

As far as I know...

Seats were fixed
Headlights were fixed
Keyless go on doors was fixed (replaced with new parts)
Supercharger turning off problem fixed
Valve cover gasket replaced
Belts and pulleys all replaced (gotta pay for belts)

Gotta find out about all the other stuff when I speak to him again.

Am I the only one finding it weird that you paid $33,000 for it?!
That's a really nice looking car, though.

In 2 days the dealer will have my car for 2 weeks... still no phone call or an update since I last spoke to them in person last Wednesday. I honestly have no interest in driving my car now anyway, it just snowed about 10" here in NYC, and this loaner GLK is amazing in the snow, I'd like to keep it till the snow thaws.

Nope, this is my one and only car, and the GLK is doing the work just fine for the winter while the CLS is in for service. I do have access to a 2010 535xi if I need it.

Ok so I got the car back from the dealer today...

Labor Amount: $1655
Parts Amount: $2281
Total: $3936

I paid $100 deductible and $72 for the belts (shop price).

First Issue

Before I go any further, I did not mention to the dealer that I had a aftermarket IC pump and HE.

So here's what they fiddled around with for 2 weeks.

CUSTOMER STATES POOR ACCELERATION

Replaced:
  • Coolant Pump - $448!
  • Screw -$1
  • Nut - $1
  • Bracket -$10
  • Bracket -$70
  • Grommet -$7
  • Plug -$2
  • Pin Bushing -$3
  • Cable Connector -$6

  • Labor: $488
  • Total $936.05

They replaced my MC30 pump w/ a OEM pump ! What the fck?!?! I didn't want to sound all smart *** to them when I reported the problem, but all the car needed was a coolant flush. Should I ask for my MC30 pump back? This is fuked up lol.

So far the car drives great, it's still a little wet here and snow here and there, along with rush hour traffic I haven't had a chance to beast on the car. I did drive it in M mode for a few hrs and the SC hasn't gone out on me like it normally would.

Second Issue

CUSTOMER STATES INTERMIT HEADLAMP ARE INOP - ACTIVE HEADLAMPS UNAVAILABLE
  • Control Unit: $1050
  • Labor: $488
  • Total: $1538

I pick up the car, flip the switch and the headlights don't come on. They take the car right back in to service and tell me to wait in the waiting area. 20 minutes he tells me the control unit was unplugged... I say ok, flip the switch back and forth, works fine. 20 min later I'm at a red light and decide to mess around w/ the lights, flip the switch to the ON position and back to OFF, then back to Auto and only one comes on. Left it on Auto and drove till the other light came back on. Going to take the car back in after new years.

Third Issue

CUSTOMER STATES DRIVER SIDE FRONT AND BACK KEYLESS INOP

  • 2 Handles - $175 and $180
  • Parts: $355
  • Labor: $366
  • Total: $721
They replaced both handles, they work perfectly fine, like new. I love it.

Forth Issue

CUSTOMER STATES INTERMIT DYNAMIC SEAT TURN OFF

Parts: $0
Labor: $8.54

IN DIAG AT THIS TIME NOT DONE 12/14 ROAD TEST VEH CONFIRM INTERMIT DYNAMIC SEATS STOP WORKING NOT DONE STILL IN DIAG AT THIS TIME WAITING FOR CUST TO OK MORE DIAG TIME 12/9 AS OF 12/11 GOT MORE TIME IN DIAG AT THIS TIME FOUND NO FAULT AT THIS TIME.

I hope a mechanic did not type that up. Can anyone decypher? lol Did they confirm that the seats stop working during a vehicle test and the diagnostic tests confirm that there's no problem? I know after a long drive, the seats turn off and say "Dynamic seats currently unavailable" on the dash and the button for them just doesn't do anything when I press it. I'll see if the problem occurs again.

Fifth Issue

CUSTOMER STATES SQUEAKING NOISE FROM ENGINE WHEN VEHICLE IS COLD

  • Tightener Pulley: $356
  • Labor: $305
  • Total: $661
I'll see tomorrow at start up.

My service advisor... who I tipped $200 btw after I picked my car up today, told me to wait till after new years for me to bring the car in for more work.

Next thing the car is going in for:
  • To get the low beams checked again
  • Gaskets on both valve covers need to be replaced
  • Drive side front shock making noise (recently started)

Quick question:

Do you guys feel like your lumbar supports are always inflated? Or is that how Benz seats feel? I feel like every time I hop in the drivers seat, my lower back is pushed out like crazy even though the lumbar is deflated, the passenger side feels more inflated than the driver.

Also, whats a normal engine temperature for the car to be running at? Say after 1hr of driving.

I'm installing new front and rear rotors along with pads and sensors tomorrow, along with my brand spanking new front cup holder.
I'll keep everyone updated with more info as more things get fixed, replaced, modded.

Thanks

My passenger seat feels like if the side supports are always inflated. My car runs usually around 90-95°C. As for your headlights sounds like the ballast is on it's way out. It's a common problem on AMG cars.

BTW ask for your CM30 back!
