the only way you can extend a warranty on a car through Mercedes is if your the original owner. If you buy a cpo from the us you can get it serviced there. As for the third party warranties I'm not sure
If you buy the car as CPO then you do have the option to purchase the ELW from MBUSA even though you're not the original owner...that is one advantage of buying CPO

What is the advantage of using the ELW from MBUSA over Chryslers Extended warranty other than the cost

Just another chime in and I don't know if every Merc dealer offers the same type of deals but I bought my 06 CLS with 18k miles from a dealer. It is a CPO car and as part of the deal the manager threw in another year on top. My manufacturer warranty is up in June 2010. Original CPO is done June 2011 and the extra year was thrown in until June 2012 or 100k miles. Needless to say I'll never get to 100k miles in 2.5 years.

Is there a Merc dealership up in Bellingham or anywhere up there? I know there is a delaer in Bellevue (Bill Gates neighborhood) that always has a decent selection of pre-owned AMG's.

Good luck!

Oh yea, I'm the second owner of my car.

Nothing in Bellingham that I am aware of.

hmmm this thread has been hugely informative. Im looking for a cls as well, well actually either a cls63 or e63. My cousin bought a 08 clk from the states since he knows a dealer and got it for wholesale and it has a 5year warranty. I dont know if it was cpo, but they had the option of buying the additional warranty, he just has to drive it to bellingham to have it serviced etc.

Disagree. MB will warranty if you're the second owner and sometimes if you're the third. Prices vary due to mileage as well. MB wanted $7K to warranty mine at 26,000 miles while I'm still on factory warranty for another week. I found a company that will do it for half that. I am definitely nervous about what will happen when time for a claim, but they were A+ rated by BBB. I'll post after first claim (hopefully that'll never come).
