Im still debating on an x pipe. What are the pros and cons of having one?

I had first deleted resonators and done straight pipe on my CLS55 and it was loud...too loud for my taste. Almost sounded like a mustang with flowmasters. I then had them put in a x-pipe and while still sounding louder than stock it wasn't obtrusively loud. It sounded really good and when you went WOT it was sick.....go for the x-pipe...really let's it be known you have 500hp

Thanks for the info. I also have headers so I wonder how loud it will be but I think i will go for the x pipe. How much did you pay for your x pipe?

well I had paid $100 for the straight pipes first then they charged me like $150 for the x pipe as the pipe itself costs around $85..They used a magnaflow x pipe

Did you have a muffler/ exhaust shop do the x pipe? I'm thinking about having Cory at kleemann make me one but idk yet. Do you have any pics of the x pipe?

Cool thanks for the link. Did you notice any drone inside the cabin while having the x pipe?

300E a couple 1994 w124wagon E320 Wagon/,1971MGB Track/Rally, MG Midget Autocross ,2000 E320 wagon.
YOU WANT

to increase the torque and reduce the motorboat sound that straight pipes create in the exhaust pulses. Go with an H-pipe
easier to fab and more torque than X-pipe.
any day

cmergonoto can't help you with that one. What did you expect out of a race exhaust system?
install some Aero resonators they may mitigate the problem

Nope...they are located after the primary and secondary cats and replace just the resonators, which act as just a noise suppressing chamber

Here are some pictures of the High Flow Cats, X-Pipe and High Flow Resonators. I have LTH and High Flow Cats moved down a bit then the X-pipe and resonators. Also a couple of sound clips I'll upload on Youtube. The pictures are not the best but I'll get it on a lift and get some decent ones.

yes I was not sure how sensitive the recorder was and was'nt sure it would have picked up the exhaust tone with the windows up. I was wrong. I'll get one done this week end in the day with a proper recorder.

I had taken out the resonator and replaced it with the magnaflow x-pipe. The sound is a bit throatier at start up and under WOT. Definitely worth it.

C63 AMG Arctic w/ Stage 1 Tune, DoubleXX pipe, MCD-631X coming soon
Not all X-pipes are created equal. When we started developing our X-Pipes for the 6.3, we had done a lot of testing with different angles, lengths etc etc. It took some time to get it "tuned in" right, sound and power. I would say you need to be careful, as you can lose power from a poorly designed piece.

I just did a similar setup on my e. LTHs into straight 2.75" back to stock mufflers. No cats, xpipe, or resonators. I hate the sound. I agree 100% it sounds like a mustang with flowmasters...with an exhaust leak. Definitely go with the x-pipe.
