Took delivery of my new ride a couple of weeks ago.
A 2009 CLS63 AMG with the performance package and carbon fiber interior trim, and only 3,000 miles! Beautiful car:



The previous owner I found out is Dan Wheldon, last week's Indy 500 winner! I tweet him last week and he confirmed it was his ride.



What was cool is when I was playing with the Navi, when looking a previous destinations, it included several racetracks, including the Daytona and Indy racetracks!

Sure didn't drive it much... I guess his Formula 1 car must be his daily driver!

The VMI showed that MBZ replaced the battery earlier this year under warranty. Guess not driving it must have drained it.

Question for the experts: was the Carbon Fiber trim a seperate option in the '09 year models? Or was it included in the P030 Performance Package?

Congrats! Ed Martin Acura on 96th Street seems to get a lot of Dan Wheldon's cars. A couple of years ago they had an orange Gallardo Superleggera of his with only about 500 miles on it, and a BEAUTIFUL white CLS550 of his lowered on black wheels and barely 1,000 miles. I have no idea who they know to get all of his cars.

You're right - Ed Martin Acura in Indianapolis is where I bought the car from. The sense I got from the dealership is that the owners knew Dan Wheldon personally. Once, when I had a question about the status of the maintenance of the CLS, I heard them calling him on another phone in the background to ask Dan Wheldon the question, so they at least had his direct contact info.

What I'm not clear about is how many cars does Dan Wheldon own if he only puts a couple of thousand miles on his cars before trading them in?!?

Thanks! I'm new too, but from what I understand:

1) limited slip differential
2) bigger brakes
3) speed governor raised to 186 mph

I am waiting a bit until new CLS hit the roads of Dubai, i am sure lot of 2008-09 will be up for sale at bargain in coming months...
It's not just CLS, M5, A6, M6 and loads of new models coming out this year...

Not that I know of. If you have the VIN, you can ask your local dealer to run a VMI report which will give you the details of what's on the car.

Thanks! I've now put 400 miles on the car, and am amazed every time I get this 'beast' how much fun it is to drive.

Just finished my first mod, added a backup camera and parking sensors (since the car didn't have PARKTRONIC).

In case you hadn't heard, Dan Wheldon passed away this afternoon in a fiery car crash!
