here is the DIY on how to remove the plastic housing in the trunk, and side carpets to access the 5 bolts of each Tail Lights :
You'll need :
- A little Flat Screwdriver
- a rubber lever
- L shape Spanner of 8 mm & 10 mm
- Torx #15
First you have to remove to small 4 plastic clips that retains the Plastic cover in the trunk :
Using one or 2 little flat screwdrivers, pull up the clip, and finish to extract it using a strong rubber lever to prevent any scratches on the cover.
When it's completely pulled, remove it.
When the 4 clips are removed, then you can pull out the cover :
Then, you'll have to unscrew with the torx#15, the small brackets for the trunk net on both sides, left and right.
After the brackets, you'lle have to remove 2 small clips on Top of each side carpets :
Now you can pull the carpets and make some enough place to access the bolts of the Tail lights.
Leave the small finition part over the rubber, you'll have to place it back at the end.
On the Left side, you should see this :
This big grey box is the central locking compressor, that why it's in foam rubber housing to isolate from the noise.
Unclip the OEM connector on the Back of the Tail light :
Just pull up this box, the bracket behind will loose and gives you more access to the side bolt of the tail light.
mate...i see that you have succeeded in replacing your CLS Tail Lights....The step-by-steps pictorial guide that you posted here are simply amazing & very useful for me...I'm familiar with all the steps but up to until replacing the original bulbs...You went on to replaced the whole tail light pieces...but i actually wants to replace the 'burned' original 'Reverse Light Bulb' ...I managed to take everything out like you did...but when i came to dismantling the defected light bulb, i failed to replace it....i just didn't know whether i just have to pull it out...or twist it out..or turn it around anti-clockwise?....i did try all of it..but just couldn't get it out.....So, i'm asking for your favour...if you could teach me how to pull the reverse light bulb off so i can replace it....If possible, a pictorial guide like above or whatever ways you can help me....I will trully appreciates it....thanks man!

i owned a mercedez benz w220 s320 model. i have replaced the solenoid valve and compressor (brand new) almost 8 months ago. since last days i have noticed the car is sagging from the rear overnight and sometimes it is not sagging at all. I am sure there is a a problem with the airmatic component. But the question is if the leak is developed in the rear shock due to which the car is sagging then why the car is not sagging at all when i park the car on vehicle raise mode.
its making me very confused now which component to replace, wheather i needs to replace the valve block once again or both the rear struts.
Car is not sagging at all at vehicle rise mode.
Please help out!!!
My heart hurts for you bro. That is the GOD of all w219 with the right set up... What type of rear diffuser is that tho??? I have the same but 3 fin.... how did you mount that so flushed? did you have to cut the bottom bumper or is that diff paper thin? Wow.
