CLS55 - 3k to spend on go fast parts.

So I have the go ahead from the boss to spend 3k on go fast parts.

There are so many options from pulley to headers etc..

If you had 3k to spend on a stock CLS55.. What would you get and what company would you guys buy from? Strictly performance parts.

I live in NC, so it gets farely hot in the summers so I know I will need some cooling upgrades.

No doubt: pulley and tune first... not sure what you would have left after install dollars.

i'm doing Kleemann headers and ECU/TCU tune first. then maybe a small pulley. 168 or 172 max. also bought an upgraded IC pump. I paid $995 for the headers, $900 for ECU/TCU tune and $100 for the pump. so I'm in at around $2k in parts so far. Doing the install myself.

If your doing headers.. forget a pulley smaller than 175-180. You will realize gains even jumping a few mm's with headers. Kleeman or some other headers with primaries.. shortys will give you gains with a larger pulley. Driveability will be negligible, power will not.

"Primaries", lol... in this casual discussion, will mean that some of the shorty headers accomplish nothing more than essentially deleting the primary cat. Ideally, MBH's, which will yield almost as much power as some supplementary mods combined. If not that route, save the rest for a throttle body! IMHO!

Good options.

3K is my budget just for parts. Will have my shop do the install.

Thanks for the input. It seems like with my budget I am leaning towards eurocharged 180mm, tune, heat exchanger and cm30.

If I can get a deal, I may have enough for Kleeman headers.

My next question is exhaust?

With Kleeman headers, what do you guys recommend downstream of those?

I am thinking kleeman headers with downpipe (removes Primary cats) --> Pair of High flow cats --> X-Pipe --> Stock Mufflers

Will this be too loud? How about CEL's? I assume Jerry at eurocharged can get rid of the CEL with the tune.

Still a little confused on exhaust parts.

Stock Exhuast :

I assume the first in line is the resonators and 2nd is the secondary cats?

Eurocharged Performance ML63 and TT lambo
Turning the CEL off is not a problem. The only issue with removing the primary cats is based around emissions and how strict they are around your area.

I would chop the rear cats, and put high flows in the front. Chop the resonators and add straight pipe. It won't be too loud and will sound awesome.

Another thing you might want to budget for is injectors.....

I am planning on. Pulley 180 mm or super charger pulley (euro charged) 16x7x1. H/e which fits on cls, larger front res,-10 degree fan on mod , extra tubes under car to hold more water. 82 mm tb. And later whatever pulley I didn't get. 180. Or s/c pulley or maybe trunk water box .

mods

Euro charged prelim numbers on the new supercharger pulley look good.Looks like less heat same horse as 180 mm crank. If so might be the first mod anyone should do besides cooling that is.
