09 Side event question

I am new to the site and looking for some quick information. Long story short I came across a picture of an 09 CLS63 with side vents on the front quarter panel. I assume this is an aftermarket part or other option? Anyone know any more info about it?

Those fenders are aftermarket and made by Wald:

Lorinser makes a different style as well:

New question

So this 2009 i am looking at purchasing has less than 2000 miles since july of 08. Even more shocking it has only been driven 10 miles in the past 3 years according to carfax. I have to think with a high compression engine that sitting for that long is worse thing someone could do to the car. Am i crazy to think this?

From the wealth of knowledge i have read on this forum i feel like this is the place to get good info about this fear... Thanks in advance!

Generally speaking cars like this need to be driven quite often so all the seals remain in tact and don't dry out. Have a mechanic take a good look at it to get a better idea.

Odd that the car has been driven so little last couple of years. Typically only happens with old people who die and the car gets inherited by someone else- but judging from the wheels and fenders it sure doesn't look like an old person's car.

BTW if you do get the car, please change those awful wheels!

Exactly what i was thinking about the seals in a high compression engine equating to death to the thing within a few months of spirited driving.

According to the dealer the car has been in various showrooms since Nov 2009. No clue how you could have a car like this sit so long with no miles or buyers.

As far as the wheels, cant agree more. I still throw up in my mouth a bit each time i look at them. I tried to convince myself that only someone got those rims with winter tires so they didnt care but then that would mean they drive the car....

If it's been for sale for so long there has to be something wrong. With all the red flags on this particular example, I'd probably recommend passing on it.

Edit: Do you mind sending me a link to the car in question. You can PM me if you wish (although I think you need a certain amount of posts to PM.)

Did you end up buying it?

Does it have an existing warranty?
