MBH is one of a few folks that make a great set of full length headers. There are all kinds of dynos that show anywhere from a 20-40* RWHP increase. A computer (ECU) tune will get you another 30 or so at the wheels.

As far as pulleys go, big spectrum. There are now upper pulley's as well as lower pulleys. From mild to wild ranges 25-60* RWHP.

Just approximating here, but it would seem from the 3 aforementioned mods, one could expect an increase of 110 RWHP. Add that to a factory 360ish RWHP and you're right around 470 at the wheels, which in turn would be somewhere just above or below 600 at the crank.

If that's not enough, there's a replacement blower from Whipple, and or Meth...

In driving the two different cars, what would you say are the biggest differences performance0wise???

If you get any kind of mod with that big of a HP increase, you will need a tune regardless. Ur taking a serious risk if you just bolt on long tubes and drive it at WOT constantly without any kind of tune, not t mention u won't maximize full power without a tune for those headers.

Skip over Rentech!!!

I got over 40rwhp from my MBH LTH. You do not need a tune with the headers. wait 'til you get a 180mm then tune it.

Not the case, I had my LTH on for hmmm about 15k maybe 20k before I tuned my car. The dyno will tell you if you need a tune look at the A/F chart.

The MBH claim on HP is independent of a tune.

Hoola, of course you need a tune. The computer is what dictates the capacity of the engine. If you do work to your car without a tune, you can't really open it up.

I 100% disagree with tuning after the LT headers, depending on A/F. Dyno the car, look at the A/F after a few runs and it has had a chance to adapt. If its funny then tune it, if not wait til your 180mm.

My car gained 50hp or something perfect A/F, needed no tune at all.

A tune alone w/no mods, will yield you power.

So tune your car after headers gain another 30hp or so... then get a 180mm and tune it again? seems silly if your A/F is good!

post your dyno charts after instal!

I'll say this here flat out. I've designed many on header systems for the 55 AMG's. I've run many tunes and have countless time road testing and dyno testing 55 AMG. You absolutely DO NOT need a tune on the 55K motor to run headers.

This engine comes from the factory running pig rich down into the 10:1 AFR. Our headers lean that number out by maybe .5 or a point. That is well safe.

Not only is my brother speaking the trueth about his car and driving without a tune. I did the same thing for even longer. I raced it down the track and drove it every day. We have many of customers who run without a tune on their 55's and have absolutely not problem.

On 63's it is advised to get a tune.

A tune on an M113 motor is supplemental at best, we are not talking turbos here guys....

If a tune was that great more guys would just do the tune and move on but since the M113 is a SC engine the pulley and headers and will get the bigger gains. Now the M157 is completely different story. Gains on the 157 from a tune can yield north 100 whp or close to it.

Im a layman when it comes to this but speak from personal modding experience on my 2004 E55 (that I modded back then in 2004).

I thought we were talking the bi turbo. Regardless, a tune is pretty much the computer giving permissions. You can of course add gains with no tune, but why do work and not tune it? These cars are all set on conservative settings, the engine with no additions and just a tune can do so much.
